Naming a fish!

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Me and my boyfriend already have two little goldfish, named Moby and Flipper, but today while I was out he bought another little fish, because it was the only one in it's tank at PetsMart (:crying: we're terrible, Flipper got bought because she was the smallest and we didn't want the other fish to beat her up)

I've just been told I've got to name the new fish this afternoon. I haven't seen it yet though, but apparently it's not a goldfish (it's safe for him to live with goldfish though) and he's a yellowy colour, and tiny.

I'd always said if we bought another goldfish I'd call him Nemo (as in Finding Nemo) but I'm not sure as he isn't orange. We tend to name them after other well known water living animals, any ideas?

That's what I called one of my goldfish when I had a couple (well, something similar in Greek). The other one was named by my cousin, and he named it Jeannie after his dentist.

I know 'fins' isn't exactly the full name you suggested but I'm tempted by that. Fins.

Or Bubbles. I'll suggest those I think, maybe Nemo as well :) And Dory. (Even though Dory was blue)

All of our fish have been called Fred for the past 20 years. My friends won a goldfish in uni, and called it Memo (as in short for memory) which I thought was kinda cool.

After a heated discussion (actually no, a discussion where I demanded to name the fish Bubbles and he laughed at me!), we went with Bubbles. :D

Btw, Yerascrote, it'd be WhatdafuckamIdoinginafishtank. We got rid of the bowl when we heard how bad it was for the fishies, and they have a nice bright orange tank.

Like in the book/ film Breakfast at Tiffany's the cat is called Cat (because you can never truely 'own' a cat)
