Barocca tablets-do they work?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Was just reading some random tidbit of info on msn homepage before I did a search on soemthing.

Do these barocca tablets work? You can get them in boots but all it says is that they're for stress related lethargy. On the msn article it said after a hangover you could take them to help regain lost fluids. Has anyone ever tried them?

Of course not. It's all placebo. Usually with these herbal things there is an active ingredient somewhere along the lines (which justifies its use) but in the doses they give you in pill form it is probably of negligible effect.

I'll look for evidence for you...

Right, found the link again, it was off one of those msn articles, "how to survive the christmas party"
Before going to bed, take some Berrocca (this replaces lost fluids), which will ensure that you make it in to the office on the morning after

Spelling mistake on my behalf. Ever heard of it though? I was just curious, normally I drink loads of water when I came in from a night out anyway but if you could take a tablet instead that would be handy.

Seems to be a multivitamin tablet.

It "replaces lost fluids" because you dissolve it in water not because it's a magic formulation. ;)

    Try it if you want.

I personally would spend my money on other things.

I'm drinking a glass of the stuff now as i've got a cold and could do with a vitamin boost. It contains high amounts of vitamins and other minerals, I doubt will relieve stress.

You can buy a similar product in Lidl (i.e. a Multi vitamin that dissolves in water)

    Barocca Works!

Yes, it does work in fact if you take it before you go out drinking it can prevent a hangover (unless you drink too much). If you take it when you have the first signs of a cold, lethargy or feeling run down it can actually prevent the on set of a cold! You can buy a cheaper version in Tesco, which has the same ingredients in and the packaging is similar, so easy to find. :thumb:

never taken it over a period of time for illness or stress but i do agree its great for a hangover :) berocca in a large glass of water when you wake up in the morning (and one before you go to bed if you can stomach it) does the trick for me. A friend of mine used to swear that if she took one a day for a week leading up to a big night out, she wouldnt get hungover at all but I've never tried that.

My dad's been taking them for years, they're good, I doubt they'd relive stress tc though!

I was considering having one now for a cold I have, they give you a bit of a boost for the day. Nothing miraclous though.
