    B3ta!

Ffs, just go there people. www.b3ta.com

Aww... now we're stuck with Austin Stevens on C5 for looniness with animals.

    Steve Irwin was far better.

Excellent - my 15 year-old brother and all his mates are putting turtles in front of their msn names in memory.

    :(

I told my friend who was an absolute fanatic earlier and she's been really really upset. She wanted to meet him one day, he was her absolute hero.

God, it's really sad :crying: I loved Steve Irwin, he just made me laugh.

Wasn't one of his children there diving with him at the time? Or have I read that wrong (my internet provider are notoriously bad for details in their news sometimes)

He probably was poking it with a stick. Lets see what happens when I agitate it, mate.

It's one of those situations where you can't believe it's happened. He probably thought he was invincible, having had so many near-misses.

I send my sympathy to his family.

    Legend.

Will raise a glass in salute tonight. Snakebite, probably.

In that picture is a giant tortoise, turtles are a completely different animal.

But i'm sure you knew that already ;p

It's quite possible that's the kind of thing that happened

They said most people that get stung get it in the arms or legs and are just in a lot of pain, but it got him direct into the heart!!

Last time I saw him onthe news he was getting a lot of stick for holding his new born son in one arm with a huge crocodile next to him.

A few people on my MSN list have done that. I have also. I thought my boyfriend was going to cry when I called him and told him.

So how come so many people seem so affected by his death?

To me he was just another guy on TV from time to time on any one of 200+ channels on Sky TV.

I'm guessing it's the animal connection?

I dunno, i guess maybe the animal connection plays some part but i think mainly because he was just a top bloke who we all loved to watch. Was quite a character :D and was someone different to all these other tv people.

I wouldn't say that I'm "affected" by his death, but I was a bit shocked. He definitely had a big personality, and was well know (it seems equally for notorious and great acts).

He did a lot of good for conservation of animals - particularly the crocodile in Australia - and also did some crazy tv programmes.

So how come so many people seem so affected by his death?

I wouldn't use me (or my boyfriend) as an example to that. My boyfriend cried for Richard Whitely also.

Didn't affect me because I didn't know who people were on about, when people spoke about it at work I thought it was the boy from Crocodile Dundee :o

Celebrities dying doesn't affect me really, unless you count Bambi's mum or Jack from Titanic :crying:

Poor guy, he was a true Legend. Tragic!
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
RIP Steve. He did a lot for conservation in Austrailia and was a fairly honest open TV personality. At least he went doing something he loved.
