Getting Pearly Penile Papules removed

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I read that you can get pearly penile papules removed by laser treatment. Has anyone every tried to get this done? Did you ask your doctor and have it done on the NHS?

Because pearly penile papules are not harmful, I have a feeling they will be reluctant to remove them for "cosmetic" reasons...

Funny thing is, when I was taking anti-biotics for a chest infection, they went away, but have now come back. I know they are not a problem but I've had two girls ask me if I have some strange STD now and it's embarrassing to explain :crying:

Every guy has them but in some guys they look a bit too knobbly for your errr... knob? The NHS will do cosmetic surgery if you can convince them that your wellbeing and health demands it.

Good linkage. I wish I had read that article advising against self removal when i was a wee lad.

Thanks Against The Tide. So, I just have to figure out how to convince the NHS I need them removed...

I wonder if saying my gf finds them a turn-off is enough? Seriously, she doesn't like them, says they make her want to yak if she puts it in her mouth. I never want to do oral with her any more, now I know she doesn't like it...

The NHS will operate if they think that whatever it is is such a hang up that your mental health suffers and you can't live a normal life - examples are - burn victims, those who loose a breat due to cancer, in some cases obesity (not a stomach staple - purely cosmetic-they'll-put-it-on-again-in-two-months liposuction ect ect).

If your gf doesn't like it she doesn't like it. But tell her her badly stuffed kerbab/overfilled bacon sandwhich doesn't look that apertising either - but you go down on her because you want to please her.

I've heard it called a taco, but never a sandwich :\ plus I"m sure if he gets them removed she'd be dying to sleep with him after that.

Question, was yours these girls first glimpse at a penis? these things which you speak of are hardly uncommon.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
It's not all that uncommon...I have them, it's not really all that noticable.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
She's seen a penis a few timed before I'm sure...

There doesn't seem to be much info on how common these things are. I know a lot of people seem to have them, but mine are really noticable when I get hard. Maybe I'm just getting a complex about it, but I can see she's kind of off-put when she sees em up close :crying:

I had a mole removed from just under my left sack, but that was because sometimes it would bleed if I went running or something.

Sorry to bump this thread but I thought I'd update it with news so far.

Well, firstly, the NHS is useless. My doctor and the GUM clinic didn't want to know. Tried convincing them, but they took one look and refused to do anything. It's wrecking my sex life but they don't care.

I asked Bupa about it. They want £1200 for the op. I'm considering saving up, it's that bad.

One thing I have found though - there is a condition that looks like pearly penile papules but is actually a harmless infection which cannot be transmitted. It can be cleared up with antibiotics. When I was on antibiotics, they cleared up, so I'm wondering if these are the things.

I'm going to try my GP or the GUM clinic again. Try to convince them.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
You shouldnt need to convince them of anything. If they've seen what you think is wrong and they've not done anything about it then theres nothing to worry about.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
    penis...

    knob...

    bell end...

Sorry I'm in one of those moods.

How bad is your condition that it is 'wrecking' your sex life? And in what way is it being wrecked? Are you about to have sex and the girl runs away in horror - or is it all in your mind about how bad it is?

Is it worse than, say, this :-

Teagan, it's probably as bad as the picture you linked to. BTW, they look much worse than that with an erection.

    It's 100% psycological.

I want to put this thing inside someone. I want them to take it into their mouth, and enjoy it.

The papules look like little bits of fungus growing on you. It's like someone who has warts on their hands - they look unclean, like they don't wash properly. If I'm right I might actually be infected, even though it's harmless...

Sex can be a big enough deal without these things. And they do rub off occasionally.

I was overweight, so I did something about it. I have a big scar on my belly, but it doesn't bother me because I got it from an operation. If you had a big wart on your face, wouldn't you get it removed before asking someone to kiss you there?

The thing that really gets me is that it's a simple thing to fix. Either laser surgery or (probably in my case) antibiotics for a couple of weeks.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Well, if it as bad as the picture or worse, I think I would feel the same as you. And if a small op helps improve your self image, go for it. Good luck dude! :thumb:

do you really want a laser near your nads???
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I'm sure he doesnt WANT to ... but if it is causing him issues, then he ought to do what makes him happy. And its not his nads - its his glans ... (not that it makes it any less eye-watering).

    Time for another mega-bump...

I finally got rid of them! :hyper:

I went back to the GUM clinic, and pleaded with them. I explained that I had done some research and found out about the infection thing that can be cured with antibiotics. I also told them that it had cleared up when I was on them for a chest infection, but that I wasn't on them long enough to completely cure it.

The woman didn't seem to know anything about this infection, so in the end I asked to see someone else who did! I don't know if she was just trying to put me off by making out it was some stupid internet thing, but anyway... The next woman admitted that there was such a thing, but said what I had wasn't it. No chance of laser surgery either, but I could have some cut-rate counceling if I wanted.

Out of desparation, I turned to the internet. I get loads of "buy viagra online" spam, so I figured I must be able to buy antibiotics as well. And low and behold, I could! I found an American online pharmacy (not sure I should mention the name) which sold them. I got two packets of 36 Salvapen tablets, but in the end only needed one... they were about £25 each. They took about 10 days to arrive.

Took them as instructed, and after a day or two things started to clear up. After a week, there was no sign of the little buggers, and three weeks later there is no sign of them returning! Last time, they came back within days, but it looks like I have finally cured them!

I'm so happy, I feel much more confident. I have been suffering for years, all for the sake of 25 quids worth of antibiotics. Why is it doctors always dismiss your problems as nothing? They told my brother he had a cold, when is nose was broken. They told my mum she was having a mid-life crisis when she had cancer....

But I'm cured now, that's what matters. I can't recommend what I did, I took a big risk. Antibiotics can have nasty side-effects (like death), I was lucky...

Just to point out again, although in this circumstance the psychological affect was bothering mokojono, pearly penile papules are entirely harmless, they can't be spread and they are not sexually transmitted.

    But wear a condom! ;)

So does anyone know if these tablets work?

I have been to doctors and he isn't intrested tbh. It's something I really want removed but nothing im willing to pay a stupid amount for. Mine are quite profound so it has made me much less confident around girls. I've had them for about 2 years. Im 16. Any help would be excellent. Like what tablets this guy was talking about.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Probably the best thing, if you want to explore that route, is to make an appointment at your local GUM clinic to discuss the situation. Btw have any girls made any comments about them or is it something you are worrying about based on how you think a girl would react?
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
No girl has made a comment, probably because they don't want to embarass me, but it feels so incredibly bad when a girl is about to go down on me and there just there.
I just desperately want to get rid of them, but I don't want to pay a ridiculous amount of money :(

I've just been searching and found a few other methods.

    1. Somebody said they used 'fine wire diathermy'. I have no idea what this is or how its done or who would do it. But he said the results were great.

    2. Somebody mentioned having a shower, drying off, putting toothpaste on affected area, then wrapping with bandage and keeping it there.

    Would any of these work?

I'm particularly intrigued by the fine wire diathermy as this doesn't sound too expensive.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Diathermy is the use of electrical currents to burn off skin.

Please don't even consider something that involves burning bits of your cock off without first speaking to people who may be able to provide an understanding and impartial view of the problem and discuss other alternatives for treatment.

You're obviously concerned about this but on the other hand it's not entirely clear that there is a problem that couldn't be dealt with through a talking treatment or by discussing the situation with a more understanding sexual health worker.

It's important to be comfortable with how your body looks, but thinking something is wrong doesn't mean there is.

Please consider using this clinic finder from the FPA to find the closest service to you before signing up to get something done that could make the situation worse.

Mate, you only get 1 cock so i wouldn't fuck about with it. Putting toothpaste on your knob is going to uncomfortable at best but more than likely fucking painful.

Like Jim says, go to the GUM clinic, speak to a professional and find out what can be done.

I've also removed the link to the website you linked to selling drugs, it's unfair to expect people to advise you on a course of medication and inappropriate to link to anything selling medication without a prescription or a doctors advice.

You really should speak to someone who will listen before taking medication without any clinical advice.
