Join some club or something, or just start popping into the local randomly, most importantly be friendly and warm towards people then the friends will roll in.

I only really hang out with a couple of friends from school. The rest of my current friends are from work. My work has three departments and I work in all three, so I have a few different groups of people I hang out with. Of course I've got friends from uni, but they all live away so I'm guessing that's not what you're on about. The rest are just people I've met through existing friends and family members.

Family (i get on greatly with some of my cousins), School, college and work. The rest of my friends are just friends of friends.

I'm currently trying to mix the groups together, so I have less organising to do - right now theres always one or two friends that I hardly see and I don't like it

(not that I'm syaing I have milions of friends. Far from it really)

Most of my friends are from school/work and I've kept in touch with them over the years. I've made some new friends through LJ communities recently.

Most of my mates are from my church and christian union or from my team. I have a couple that are from halls and some more from my course (so that'd be work). But as for actually socialising, doing dinner, going out for fun, that's my team and my CU.

I have a couple left over from school as well, erm, and that's probably it.

i've just moved back home from uni for good and although i have friends here i feel like we're on different wavelengths. i still want to go out a lot and do some proper clubbing wheras my mates here are all settled down with their boyfriends and aren't into the clubbing scene. i started a new temp job 2 weeks ago and so far i've been out twice with people from work. i make friends pretty easily and there were a couple of people i really clicked with so when i finish this job next week we're all going to keep in touch and keep going out :D

Work, mostly, and the odd internet chat group.

School and college - one I've known since I was about three months old and we went to the same primary school, then met up again at college and some of her friends from secondary school were in some of my classes so we sat together and now they're some of my best friends. Another couple I've kept in touch with since secondary school and a couple more from various places of work (didn't go to uni).

Oh, and another one that lives in the same area of me and contacted me through ICQ in 1999 - now we're like brother and sister and feel like we've known each other a lifetime!

Come to think of it, I left college four years ago and have only made friends with two more people that I still keep in touch with now! :(

I just moved at the start of the year and I've made five or six really good pals from my old work, I can see the same happening at my new job, and I've like one real life internet pal down here

This is like the third different place I've lived, and I still make sure I stay in regular contact with as many peeps as I can

just ask around on the site who's living near you and meet up.
It won't get easier as that. You know those people - in some way, so the ice is already broken.

Most of mine are from school or from when I worked with horses. I've lost contact with a lot of them but usually if I see them we can have a good chat. I also got to know some people while doing Taekwondo.
My close friend group consists of four girls who got to know each other through one another. ;)

I'm also trying to find more friends. My main friends are nice (bar the constant drama and having all been living in different countries/towns ;)) but I'd like to get to know some people who share more of my interests.

Met two people off the internet so far, one only because he was sort of stalking me because I mentioned where I work (owned up the day after - in person). Not seen him since. The other one I went two or three times to the movies but he pisses me off so much in general that I recently blocked him. ;) Plan to meet more net people though.

Work usually, but a lot of my friends started off as 'friends of friends' or I end up meeting a lot of people when I go out, because I know quite a few people I end up bumping into them and being introduced to new people.

I made my current group of friends, if you can call them that, through work. Constant moving forced me to lose contact with each group of friends i ever made. I make friends really easily though so i dont have to try, ive always found people take to me instantly and come to me looking for friendship.

I don't have many friends as I devote most of my time to work and my wife and children.
My wife has hundreds of real life and online friends. She is sooooooo popular. :)

I've tended to meet them at work or on the Internet the last year or so. I'll probably be trying to make some more in the next few weeks.

What sort of music are you into? Go to a club playing that sort of music. You won't instantly come out of there with a pack load of friends, but after going for a few nights you'll start to recognise the regulars, get chatting with a few people waiting at the bar, notice a few people who dance to the same songs as you & strike up a conversation (possibly through the medium of sign language depending on how loud the music is...), etc.
