My housemate's hamster used to be like that. But I don't know if that makes it normal!

I remember my sisters hamster did that, glad i had a female, it doesn't look too attractive, not that you need to be attracted to a hamster or anything.

He's right, sadly enough i had a look on the internet and found that "Males often have a noticeable scrotum with testicles after about 4 weeks of age, although the testicles can be retracted"

Yep, their bits definitely go in and out! They are the same as humans, in that they can adjust the temperature down there. So, in Summer, when it's hot, your boy hamster will have bits that stick out really far behind them (I am always a little shocked how far even though I have hamsters for a few years ) and in winter they look more normal!

that definitly makes sense. when i got him it was really hot for the next few weeks which would explain their size. and now as it is pretty cold here they are small.

    thank you :)

They get bigger when the hamster is "in heat". My step-sister's hamster has massive bollocks.

The boys don't go 'in heat', it's the girls that do that.

Quick woman, it might be having its final moments now! What are you going to say to your sister? "I had to choose between saving a hamster from starvation and saving a teacup from drowning, the choice was clear"? :p

No, I'd say "oh no! He was fine when I fed him earlier ... I'm so sorry..."

It'll be fine. She fed it on Tuesday, and it stores loads of it's food in it's bed. Hopefully, anyway :-S
