I'm currently having problems logging on to MSN messenger. The reason for this is my Nortons Firewall. I have tried to configure the settings but Nortons will not open (the program) as there is an error (file corrupted). So, I tried to unistall Nortons but I'm unable because the Firewall is in use i.e. it's turned ON and I am unable to turn it off!

Any suggestions??

I can not 'reinstall' Nortons as I do not have the software...:chin:

why cant you turn it off? if you cant find a way through the program then press ctrl + alt + delete at the same time and look in the task manager then close the program down from there

Either - find the switch in norton firewall that turns it off or

Go to your services in control panel, admin tools. Find any that are to do with norton firewall and change them to "stopped" and "disabled", then reboot.

As far as I can see, it uses port 1863.

    Just an update...

I can not disable it using task manager or admin tools as it's not there.

As I said above, everytime I try to open Nortons Internet Security it is unable to perform the task due to an error and gives me the option to send error report.

The only option I think I have left is to download Nortons to see if it overides this current version.

I know the firewall is on as the 'Security Centre' says Nortons Firewall is ON.

Makes you want to bang your head against a brickwall...:banghead:
