    What I did read is that you shouldn't leave the internet connection on, or talk on the phone. Never heard about the computer itself.

    Yanno, you should probably turn the computer off if it's thundering :p

    Turning it off won't prevent it from being fried, you would have to unplug it from the mains, that and the phone line for it to be protected.

    for i hath a surge protector plug thingy

    for both phone line and power :)

    You'd be surprised at how many people lack common sense....esp if they don't know anything about in-house electricity or lightning power... ;)

    That won't help if lightning strikes. ;)
    The power of the lightning hit will just smash the surge protector and fry your electric stuff...
