would certain hobbies put off girls?
some of mine include:

reading manga
playing video games (both retro and current)
watching movies (mostly tartan asia extreme films and comedy films)
going for long walks

would any of this bother you?

playing video games (both retro and current)

Ahh ya see you could probably get away with it if it was just current, but because it's retro too then you've never any chance of getting any sort of girlfriend at all

    Or maybe not.

I've no idea what manga is, but it doesn't make a difference, so long as you can still make time for a girl if she isn't into it.

whats 'too retro'? (I only play super nintendo and mega drive when i feel nostalgic)

Manga: Japanese comics (more like graphic novels at our end)

None of it makes a difference, if she likes you then she'll like you for you.

And I've yet to meet a girl who doesn't like going for a nice walk.

I sometimes play retro games, in fact i've spent the whole weekend playing a game i first had in 1995 (obviously not non stop :p)

I've never once considered it to be strange that i like retro games.

ok im a girl and like most others i hate all video games or whatever theyr called, i remember once sitting in a room full of boys ( im 'one of the lads' at times you see) going absolutely pyscho about some crap fighting game.. i acutally looked around at how passionate they were and i laughed out loud. so videogames is a boys thing.. and a girl should like you whatever its nice to meet people with quirky little interests

so videogames is a boys thing..
Not true. Most games are made for and marketed towards boys, but I know plenty of girls that have completed Tomb Raider or have a rich family on The Sims. And I've never introduced Super Monkey Ball or Mario Kart to a girl without a positive response. In fact I remember reading in a magazine that girls actually play videogames on average more than boys, but they don't tend to spend money on them (free on the internet or whatever).

Incidentally, is this not essentially the same question as the "Does the nerd ever get the girl?" thread. As long as they aren't the only thing you do.....don't just stay in your bedroom.....socialise.....have other interests.....blah blah blah.

ETA: Check out the high scores on NMM's Arcade to see how much girls like playing videogames.

Haha that was such a class game except I could never make it work right.

Theme Hospital was unbelievably good though.

I, myself, do not enjoy video games but I don't care if other people do. All I care about really is that the guy is nice and for me to have fun with him.

And I can not speak for all girls but I love long walks, and I have not met anyone that disliked walks. Anyway, that's all the advice I can give you.

how long is a long walk to you though, measured in time/distance, or whatever?

i think 5/6 miles is a nice easy distance

A long walk from me is (if anyones from north london) either oakwood to enfield or oakwood to wood green

thats (just a guess) about 2 or 3 miles

none of that would put me off in the slightest, unless it was an obsession, and then that would be more to do with obsessive behaviour, rather than the actual hobby.

 The only time I'd have a problem with boys playing video games would be if he was to invite me over to his house, just ignored me and played video games instead.

Obviously not every girl in the world will have the same interests in you but that's life. It might sound harsh but it's true, just be yourself and stop stressing about how people view you.

What's the problem? Two of my mates are really into their manga and both have girlfriends. Are you shy or something?

playing video games - absolutly not!! i like computer games... and retro gaming is fine... in fact some of the old stuff is better than some of the new games out there (- for gameplay at least, not in terms of graphics or online gaming or anything);)
and going for long walks, hell NO, it wouldn't bother me!!
