Walking A Lady Home - Opinions

What do you (guys and gals) think about walking a lady home, especially at night?

I think it's just plain good manners, but some people seem to get quite pissed off at it - as if I were some hyper-sexist chauvinist pig.

Thoughts?

I totally agree, I would walk a girl home out of good manners but it has backfired on me. I was walking back home from a club with a girl I knew from work and I walked her back home, she got the impression I really liked her and she told me she loved me!!! She sent me a text a few days ago saying the same thing even though she knows I have a girlfriend!

I personally don't mind if a bloke offers to walk me home. I do, however, get fairly peeved off when I want to have some time to myself and blokes insist that they HAVE to walk me home as the big wide world is such a scary place.

They don't seem to understand that if they do that I'm just going to go out again as soon as they're gone so that I can have a bit of time to myself, and I'll probably be gone for longer than otherwise, so really they're just helping me be put in more danger.

So, yeah, make the offer, but if the girl says no then respect it.

well it'd be kinda just plain stupid for me, since most of the girls i know live nowhere NEAR me (and i mean like a 20 minute train-ride away). so unless they're gonna invite me to stay at their place, i aint staying over. :P

on the other hand, i think it is just a courtesy a male should extend at the end of a late night drinking binge. <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">

I like it when a guy offers 2 walk me home but as already has been said if i say no i mean no.

One thing that really pissed me off about a yr ago when i woz goin out wit one of my ex's woz that i woz down @ the Reading festival site wit him & his mates but when i had 2 go home i didn't really wanna walk on my own but he woz 2 busy flirting wit this group of girls 2 give a shit about me <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"> so his mate walked me home in the end.....thats when i knew the relationship woz over...bastard <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">

It depends... If the bloke did actually walk the "fair maiden" home out of the goodness of his heart. If he only did it hoping for a bit of action then he doesn't. I think that it is just common curtousy to walk a girl home but if a girl says no then you need to respect that... admitedley we are smaller than you and not as strong but it doesnt mean that we are soooooooo nieve that people need to hold our hand the entire time...

That's part of it, I think. I don't for a minute think that a lady can't open a door for herself, but I think it's nice to open it for her. Similarly walking her home at night - especially at night, in fact. Inner-city Coventry (my term-time residence) isn't a terribly cheery place when it's dark.

i think its common courtesy but most of the time my boyfriend drives everywhere so thats even better!

i liked it when blokes used to offer but i didnt mind walking home on my own as long as u can protect urself!

As for walking girls home - as long as you do it with good intentions and not just getting a lay out of it.

If you genuinely care about some one theres nothing wrong with walking them home and making sure they get there ok. unless they want time alone, as mentioned above, in that case don't force it.

I don't think there's anything wrong with walking a woman home either, i think the only people who do have a problem with it are the femenists!

I killed my conscience with excessive alcohol consumption. Its a hard road but worth it in the end.

1 of my (female) friends b/f insists on escorting her, by CAR!!! everywhere round town, practically even in the middle of the day. i wont say where i live, but the town has the lowest crime rate in the UK, so its pretty safe as they go. as 4 my g/f, she can bloody well walk down the hill on her own, as its a bugger 4 me 2 get bak up!!! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/redface.gif">

What about girls walking guys home? Okay, admittedly, this usually only happens when blokes get drunk, can't stand up etc. Good fun though.
