Favourite 80s cartoons

I'm watching Ulysses 31 on DVD at the mo. The slightly mad French/Japanese one involving spaceships, ancient greek gods and blue people. I love how the rest of the crew just hang there, turned 'as lifeless as stone.' A little darkness goes a long way in cartoons. And the spaceships are as ace as I remembered. That massive eye shaped mother ship thing The Odyssey. And that cool little red one that splits into 3.

Other faves include:

Galaxy Rangers
Mysterious Cities of Gold
Dungeons and Dragons

And I'm STILL waiting for UK release of Thundercats. Grr.

So what are other people's favourites?

Well, I was a total Thomas the Tank Engine geek.

Also loved, Charlie Chalk, Superted, Count Duckula, Bucky O'Hare (I have it on DVD - £1 from CEX!) and Captain Planet.

Trap Door, Captain Planet, He Man and She Ra, Penny Crayon. There were loads. 80s were a good decade for cartoons.

    How could I forget Thundercats!

trap door...i didn't realise it went back to the 80s! I used to love it.
I can't think of many 80s ones....all my favourites were even older like tom and jerry and scooby doo.
Pingu, fireman sam, postman pat, rosie and jim, brum were all 90s i think.

Ok, so its hardly the best or my favorite but the song came to mind :p

I was a fan of my little pony and care bears.

Most of the ones I remember were 90's ones though. I'm too young to remember the 80's.

Anyone remember that cartoon where it was all about a baby and his two favourite toys, one was a toy robot and at night they came to life and his bedroom swing set turned into a rocket and he had adventures up in outer space with Aliens, while his sister tried to catch him awake and get him in trouble?

Or that cartoon where all the kids in the neighbourhood shared dreams in the dream world?

Or Captain Z the dream patrolman? or whatever it was called.

I watched every single episode of mysterious cities of gold and then missed the finale. Gutted. Had to wait about five years to see the bloody thing.

Transformers, thundercats, Prince Valiant, Duckula, Dogtanian, Danger Mouse, all fantastic.

Other classics were the original Knightmare and The Adventure Game (not the shitty later series)
