It was a letter inviting him to a hearing where course of action, including possible termination of his contract, will be decided upon.

    Same for everyone.

The racist comment was when I called my collegue a 'polish git'. Wankers I tell thee.

    Really stressing me out now!

I seriously suggest getting some character references from people that know you talking about you not being a racist.
Also if you have any polish friends, get one from them.

Also, I would have a grievance letter ready in which you state that you think you are being victimized (it's a powerful word). Also they CANNOT accuse you of being a racist without solid proof and calling someone a "polish git" is not proof.
Also I would say in the next meeting that I am feeling rather stressed (as you are anyway) about being called a racist and that it's interfering with my life, you can't sleep, you are edgy, and stressed.

I think they are trying to scare you and they are wrong in doing that. You have your rights.

Ridiculous to the extreme. I still think they have an ulterior motive.

Hoping it doesn't get any sillier.

Also, I'd try to have a bit of a fight back. Accusing someone of being racist is pretty serious character defamation.

Someone Chris works with tried to get him on the racist thing recently and after a long fight appealing against a final written warning it got dropped. I hope if sadly it goes that far for you that it works out ok. Racism is classed as gross misconduct.

It does sounds like an ulterior motive to me. They are planning something and using you guys as scapegoats.

Tis all a bit fishy sounding :chin:

Like, I assume *any* office environment has people emailing forwards etc to their co-workers.

    lalalala, now 2pm.

    Still nothing.

Doing my tree in. Least I've passed my exams which is one of the two.

Like everyone else has said, it sounds like they're making a big deal out of nothing for whatever reason, and it's the ulterior motive that's the worrying bit.

You must be feeling so shitty after being accused of that - I made a comment in jest at work and later got accused of making death threats to a collegue, and it's so crap because you know full well the context you meant it in and it's so awful to think that someone believes you'd actually say something like that and mean it. And all I got was a concerned chat, none of this disciplinary bollocks you're dealing with.

Dya reckon there's any chance this guy might've put a complaint in against you for it?

Absolutely not, hes my best bud there is no way he'd do that.

Anyway, they didnt fire me, got a final written warning.

Time to leave I think very soon. (I was actually so pissed off I handed my notice in but they refused to accept it)

Bastards. At least you still have your job in the meantime whilst you search for a new one.

if you hand in your notice and work your notice period, regardless of them accepting or not, you are then free
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Best not give them ANY reason to sack you know as it would be so easy for them.
BTW you CAN appeal against thier decision if you want.
