Oxymoron

Indrid ColdIndrid Cold Posts: 16,688 Skive's The Limit
How can I be a bit sleepy and at the same time not tired enough to go to bed?

It's also known as a worrying addiction to late-night posting on thesite
I've been up since 6am and can barely keep my eyes open yet the prospect of going to bed still isn't appealing!

It's not just thesite though... it seems kind of boring at the moment, so I'm thinking of watching a movie or playing a game. But I'm still sleepy.

    That's not an oxymoron though.

Yeah, it's a bit slow. I'm trying to find a birthday present online for an 11 year old girl who has invited me to her swimming party. Get my social life eh.

Isn't it? I thought "sleepy" included "tired". heh

    That's cute! 11 was the age! :D:p

It does, an oxymoron is when you place two contradictive words beside each other. Not a phrase that contradicts itself.

She loves me. Her and two other girls the same age from the canoe club! Now, should I get her a Bratz doll, or a book? I'd rather have a book, but I'm not eleven.

Turlough is right about oxymorons as well.

Turlough's a bright lad. Ask him what to get for the 11 year old.
  • Indrid ColdIndrid Cold Posts: 16,688 Skive's The Limit
Well, it depends on the person I think, and you know her better than we do surely. At 11 I'd have prefered a transformer than a book, but someone I knew (and still know, actually) would have prefered a book.

I'll get her a hat or something and some chocolate. Can't go too far wrong with that.
  • Indrid ColdIndrid Cold Posts: 16,688 Skive's The Limit
I don't know about the hat, but chocolate would make a very disappointing present when I was 11. :chin:

Why? It's chocolate AND a hat!

I'm freaking out a big... I could swear I just heard a murmur right next to me. :nervous: I hope it was the radio of a car passing by, the window's open...

Yeah, but I think the present will be the hat. Chocolate would be something you added on the side.

I'm knackered. I've been in work all day and I should go bed as I'm back in tomorrow morning but I can't be arsed going to the effort of getting up, getting changed and getting into bed.

Well yeah. I wouldn't get her chocolate on it's own, that's such a cop out.

As I said, I don't know if the hat will be a good present. I just meant that the chocolate won't make a big difference, IMO.

Chocolate is always good. Forget the hat, get more chocolate!
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
You can't have any, you've just brushed your teeth!

I could get her a York University t shirt, nobody else will get her one of those :chin:

Not now...maybe for breakfast. Or lunch, since that'll be when I wake up...
  • Indrid ColdIndrid Cold Posts: 16,688 Skive's The Limit
Careful Kentish, she's hidden a camera in your house. :nervous:

Or perhaps a pack of light bulbs. No one will get her one of them either. :p

    Chocolate for breakfast? :yuck:

Hidden camera? Sure, if you like. I can see that you are typing on a laptop at this very moment! Goodness me.

    Yorghos that's an awful present!

If you mean me (which you probably don't), I don't have a laptop. ;)

Not if the needed quality is something no one else would bring. :p

Did I need to mention it has to be a good present?

Would you really want me spying on you with a hidden camera? :chin: Thought not :p
