why are you blue? you should get out with your friends and have fun. its my favourite part of the year.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
    i love summer

true, for the most part ill be sitting round the house with nothing much to do except sunbathe and eat while my friends are all working... but then thats better than being at uni sitting in a room 'attempting' to do work!
or i think so anyway :D

plus summer time means CAMPING!! always fun

Yeah, I'm the total opposite. Summer makes me insanely happy.

Make the most of it if you can. It can get depressing if you can't find ways to fill your time, I've definitely found that in the past.

There's no perfect time in the year for me... In winter, I go to uni so there are lots of people to talk to, but it's insanely cold. In summer, it's nice and hot but uni's off and I have a lot less chances to be with others.

I heart summer. After the exams I'm more than happy to sit and relax and do feck all. Read the books I wanna read. It's nice. I feel like I used up all my intelligence during the exams, and that I've been losing brain cells since I'm out almost every night, but it's nice.

I'm really looking forward to 40 hour weeks at work for the next 3 months.

    Not.

I am not a big fan of summer either, I rather like dark weather, less hot and more rainy... Summer can get really boring indeed and heat never help... The light is annoying and all those guys walking topless in the town thinking their cool can annoyed me a little as welll... Can't wait for winter to come...

i like summer but i have to work - i work as many hours as i can and i'm also poorly at the moment. :crying:

I'm looking forward to summer, even though I will be straight back in the Co-op as soon as I set foot in my village! There's loads of stuff I want to do this summer. Actually that's a lie, I want to go canoeing every day and go to Fairport, so that's 2 things. It's weird though, the last 2 terms of uni all I've wanted to do is go home, but now I'm miserable that I've only got 6 days left.

i love summer, i have to work but i get to see all my mates from back home who i havent seen properly for ages, i get to go on holiday, sunbathe, chill out, dont have to worry about deadlines....

I had it a couple of days ago, but it has disappeared and I'm starting to enjoy the summer. However, I'm pretty sure it'll come back again, as I tend to be quite sad when I don't socialise for long periods of time without any work to do.

Of course, I could always get a summer job, but I don't feel like it at the moment - I really don't need the money. I'm not planning on purchasing anything major. Spending for the future seems way too, what should I say, boring? :p

I'm the same. Trying to look for work (well, the field I want work in) seems hard.

How anyone can moan about not having to do any essays, exams, lectures for three months is mental... Since I'm doing PG now I don't get summers anymore :( In fact I'm in the office just now meant to be working... :crying:

You students need to get a grip and appreciate the long summers. I wish I could go back to them. It's probably the main thing I miss about being a student, all that freedom. Make the most of them. There are LOADS of things you can do, I had amazing summers all through uni because I planned them and looked at the opportunities there were.

I've not had to do any essays, exams, lectures since December. I never thought I'd miss it but I really, really do! :crying:

The couple of months off for summer is just about right. I always found that there was enough time to let off some steam, enjoy doing exactly what I wanted when I wanted without worrying about deadlines and stuff, then just as you're getting bored of it then you've not long left til you're back at uni or whatever.

I'm just bored bored bored bored bored of everything and desperately need something to keep my braincells ticking over.

As Butthead put it so well in the amazing film, Beavis and Butthead do America, the sun sucks. The sun in Russia sucks more though. As it's hotter.

I dunno... I am the sort of person who constantly needs to be doing things... That and I need a job. My flatmates have either gone home, or work full time, don't see my other mates as much. It's boring doing nothing.

I don't see any reason why summer needs to be a dull time of year at all. Okay, so there are no lessons at university during the summer. University isn't the be-all and end-all of everything! Do anything else - paid work, charity work, go on holiday... basically, do something. Don't let your mind go unused during the summer, keep your mind active.
