we spend so much time destroying opium crops in afghanistan

instead of futiliy trying to stop heroin producers, perhaps we should employ these farmers to grow them for the pharmaceuticals, and buy their crops, they get a living, we get something useful

    that already happens and always has done.
    there are tons of perfectly legal opium and heroin traded everyday.

    and as for destroying the stuff ...thats only for show.

    afghanistan has always produced opium.
    the taliban almost eradicated the stuff.
    america now control the capital city ...and give the opium warlords bundles of dollars ...millions in cash at a time.
    predictable end result from such investment is ...the opium starts growing again ...and then some more!
    thanks to british and american troops plus american dollars ...opium production is at it's highest level ever.
    make of that what you will.

    We should let capitalism take it over! It takes over everything else after all. Let big companies move in with tax breaks to motivate them so they can take it all over and grow it themselves, using the farmers at slave labour wages!

    :lol: Thing is mate... this shows the west don't have true capitalism.. or we would legalise all drugs and they would be produced in exactally this way - they are big money afterall!

    if you mean by that ...let legitamate business take over then i'm all for it.
    manys small medium and large companies could be formed/benefit.
    healthier fairer and at last ...controlled by someone other than pirates and cut throats.
