Referencing

I'm engaged in the joyous task of housefinding.

The referencing form requires (if I have been in my place of employment for less than 18 months) my previous place of employment.

Does anyone have any idea what they are likely to ask the previous employer? I don't want the previous one to have any details, as it's none of their fucking business.
I can understand giving the details of my current employer.

I need to complete it so they can be checked, but I'm just interested in what information they're trying to gain.

Thanks for any useful replies.

They're basically checking to see what your salary was there, I would guess, to make sure you can pay the rent every month.

I don't see why its their business though. Money laundering too, perhaps.

    Thanks :)

They only ask the contact details and start/finish dates.
The current employment asks for salary details too (as you'd expect).

I just don't like telling people more than I have to, and I don't really want my previous employer to know what I'm up to.
