Job Satisfaction

Who wakes up in the morning & has an actual zest for going to work?

Like when you were younger & would wake up on christmas or your birthday & you can't wait to get dressed & open your prezzies. At the moment I wake up & have no desire to wake up let along go to work. I just don't have anything to look forward to at work to motivate me to leave the comfort of my bed.

I make up everyday glad to be setting off for my job. It's nothing special, it doesn't pay well, Could do with more hours but i just love where i work and my job itself as well as the people and the clincher is that because i love it so much and enjoy it, it makes me happy and anyone who knows me will say happyness is extremely important to me.

    So yeah i do :D

I love my job and have no problem going to work, also plenty of time I can work from home, so it is all nice and dandy. And if I need to go to the office my boss is my best mate and a weed smoker like me, so work isn't really work...

I hate waking up knowing that I have to go to work. The odd few people are nice, the job is tedious and money is crap. No motivation and no appreciation!!! And yes I am looking for another job.

I work part time and the job is a drag, but if I'm working with alright people then it's not so bad.

i'm a full-time student and have a part-time job working once a day at tesco. doesn't exactly excite me and make me think 'ooh quick, get out of bed it's time for work..!' but it's something i have to do to bring in the pennies. hopefully when i graduate and get a good job, it'll be one that i enjoy. doubt i'll get one that makes me want to get up in the morning. :p

I see my job as just a job & nothing more or special. I don't really enjoy the getting paid aspect either as i'm not a money hungry person.

I fucking hate getting up in the morning...luckily my coffee machine is on a timer switch, and that makes it easier.
Before I've poured some coffee, I have zest for sleeping and nowt else.

I like my job an awful lot, though. So as soon as I feel human of a morning I can look forward to an interesting day.

I hate getting up on a morning, every sane person does. Especially in winter.

I actually quite like my job, but I have just started so I may not do in three months.

I used to ...until one Friday morning when I was called into the MD's office and made redundant. I was gone by lunchtime. :(

I used to love my job - for the people I worked with. They are amazing! But the job has got us all down so we're all leaving for better things...

But the experience there has got me into a job on a wage that is £4k higher, with better hours which is closer to home with better career prospects. I think this could be my dream job!

I don't think anyone enjoys their job *that* much. However, I do enjoy what I do (most of the time) and I think it is important to do so.

If you are hating it that much then you really need to think about whether or not you should really be doing what you are.

However, if it is just that "groan, it's 6.30am and my bed is oh so comfy I don't want to get out" feeling then you just need to grin and bear it.

Volunteer - who knows where it will lead?

What do you do then? Also, no-one else has said what they do here?
I'm a software developer for consumer electronics products, you know, the one's you see in your high street electrical or electronics gadgets store (or online if you shop on the internet :) )
Myself, my job is a mix of good and bad:
    The good:
    - people
    - the money
    - some satisfaction in my work gaining skills from it (well, some of it)

    The bad:
    - the *same* people everyday
    - same type of people as myself
    - insularness of a big industrial park site
    - too much time needed to do mundane stuff leaving not enough time to spend time reducing the mundane stuff by developing new ways of working, developing new skills
    - lack of opportunities to branch out into new areas, network with new people
    - awkwardness of the way the project is run - multiple sites, multiple parties involved, the complexity
    - well-meaning and positive but sadly unsatisfactory IT support and systems leading to frustration

I compensate for quite a bit of this doing voluntary work, developing new soft/human/communication skills in this and meeting a lot of different people.

Perhaps you should try thesite.org's sister site: www.do-it.org.uk - and look at how you could be fulfilled in your spare time through voluntary work. Who knows it could lead to a new job? Good on the CV.

Volunteering has made some of my dreams come true. I've met some lovely people. I'm also single and have met some rather nice partner material, nothing's come of it - even though I've asked. But if you don't ask...

Trouble is now, I'd like to do the things I volunteer in for money. I'd like the voluntary work I do to be part of a real paid job. It's a bit of a challenge at the moment balancing this with paid job and lifes necessary chores...

I don't think job satisfaction comes from getting up every day and looking forward to going into work. I think job satisfaction comes from a sense of achievement at the end of it all. Do you think someone building homes for poor people in Africa doesn't have mornings where they would rather just give up and go home? That's why I prefer project based work. I couldn't do a job where you just go in, do it, and go home. It'd just seem futile.

    That's a good point.

My jobs ok could be worse. Don't particularly look foward to it but it offers me a good career and a decent salary so I guess that's the main thing
