Would really appreciate some advice on this.
I messed up my final exam this morning. Majorly. It wasnt lack of knowledge, i knew the answers to all of the questions and i used up the whole 3 hours
I fucked it up by not reading the instructions. We were given 8 Questions and had to choose 3 to write essays on.
I answered all 8.
Shall i email my lecturer about it? It anonymous marking so im not sure that would be a good idea.
Will they take the first 3 as my answers? My best answers were towards the end :crying:
Or will they reject it completely?
I cant believe this. So pissed off, put so much effort and prep into it to do something as stupid as this.
Am i doomed? no really

So pretty dam relevent
I only got 45% for my coursework in this unit, so i cant rely on that
I dont know whether to just leave it and forget about it, fail and go back for re-sits, or whether to email my lecturer and probably still fail anyway
I have a feeling they will take the first 3 answers, which i thought were short answer questions so were only just under half a page each.
It was the practice exam questions that threw me off, it had 2 sections, the first 5 being short answer ones and the rest being essay questions. Its completely my own stupid fault for assuming it was the same format, but ive worked so hard for this exam to try to make up for the rubbish coursework i did, in hope i could buck up the final mark. Ive got so much knowledge about the subject, i wrote 14 pages of A4 sides! Ive blown it all.
I might just go hide in a corner and waste away now
In our GCSE R.E paper, there were about 6 religions. Since we'd only studied Christianity, we were supposed to do,the questions on Christianity. (All sounds pretty logical)
My mate had a sudden moment of nuttiness and decided to do her work on the Hinduism questions.
They marked the questions and she got a D or something, but the school negociated with the exam board and as far as I know she got to retake it.
In the meantime, try not to stress about it... though I'm sure that'll be a lot easier said than done. Positive thinking will at least do your stress levels a bit of good, hopefully!
I totally stuffed up one of my exams by err well missing it - i thought it was in the afternoon and it turned out to be in the morning. I totally freaked out, went to the office, freaked out some more, then got in to see the course tutor almost cried and said that i was due to get a first on that course (which was true, I ended up with a 2:1) and they let me go and take it in the afternoon session. However i still had to wait for 6 weeks before they told me weather it would be accepted or not.
Otherwise they would have made me retake the exam a year later.
I don't know weather they made an exception because they were really nice or because i was a particually good student but its always worth a try.
i however fear that they will just mark your first 3 answers.
He's such an arse, i know he will say tough luck and see you at resits, or something similar
although saying that, im afraid my friend did the exact same thing for her A level final english exam and the examiner took the first 3 answers and not the last 2. (even though for her, she thought the best one was the fourth answer)
it might just be the case that the examiner person was a grumpy bastard though and just chose the first three to be nasty
im sure everything will turn out ok though one way or another
Ilora x
I really hope that doesnt happen. Because they will clearly be able to see from all the questions overall that i know loads, yet ignore them knowing the first 3 are what i thought to be short answer questions!
Cant believe i was so stupid :banghead: I know its my own stupid fault and its my own stupid consequences, but my grade (or non grade as it will be) wont actually be an accurate measure of my knowledge!
hope it doesn't turn out too bad.
But all I can say is that if you answered almost 3 times as many questions as you should have, your probably looking about about 40%+ if you answered 3 of the questions quite well, hitting all the key points.
Which would pass the module right? if thats the case, and you pass, you probably wont be able to retake it.
x
I have calmed down (slightly) now.
Ive faced the fact that i will fail, my first 3 answers i thought were suposed to be short answers so are only about 10 lines long, i emailed my lecturer and he is taking the first 3 answers. Therefore, ive no hope.
But, nothing i can do now. I will have to come back and re-take it in august, and only be able to get a maximum of 40% which is going to down-mark my degree, i will probably end up with a third now
you should come to this party im going to on friday, be well fun :chin:
Went on to work in IT - firstly for the major IBM brokerage, specialising in laptops. Then I switched companies and worked out in the field, mainly covering government locations.
It really isn't the end of the world - you may have stuffed it up, but as said before these things aren't always too bad. Though it must suck, doing all those years of work and making a mistake at the final hurdle .
We still love you anyway, whether you're a first or a turd. Erm, third...
Thanks for that, though!
had my spirits lifted a little today, i had my dissertation viva and it went really well, my dissertation superviser might want to publish my dissertation he said  and he wants a copy of my viva to show future students!
So although i fucked up that exam, i feel better that i havent done *everything* wrong
