Right, I'm bored and no-one has posted anything for ages (:() so here.
I was wondering what people's opinions are of men who visit prostitutes. Is it just providing a service like anything else? If you don't approve, would prostitution being legal change your mind? (less chance of the girl being forced into it etc.)

But even if they aren't single, surely that's up to their partner to decide whether they have an issue with it? Not that I would guess there's any girls that would be happy with that arrangement.

As you say it is like providing a service for men who are lacking something in there sex life for whatever reason.
Exactly. My opinion of a guy that uses prostitutes wouldnt be very high, an i dont think i'd let the idea of dating that guy cross my mind.
I feel sorry for the women who do it, and yes it is a bit seedy an sad if a bloke feels the need but can't say i have any major probs with it going on.
I think prostitution should be legalised though, and possibly more brothels an stuff. That might be slightly better than having them hanging around dark streets on their own.
However, If my man ever did visit one whilst we were a couple, we would no longer be.
I don't have any problem with the business transaction if both parties are happy to go through with it, and consent fully. The problem is, of course, that many street girls don't consent fully and willingly.
I would look down on a man who uses a hooker though, because I think it is rather sad that you need to pay someone a lot of money in order to have some company.
...I would never consider paying to be with an escort. It's like paying a human being to dump your bodily fluids in her...as if she's a toilet or something. I don't really care if she's making heaps of cash or very little out of it...there's just something intensely dehumanising about the whole thing!
I know several people that have lost their virginity to prostitutes and regretted it.
Actually i know several youngish people that have done it, even though they have no problems getting with other people. Maybe it's not all about dirty old men.

I'd also have problems with someone visiting a sex worker if they did so without the consent of their partner(s) - and I feel it ought to be something more explicit that "just" an open relationship.
Other than that, I have no issues with the 'normal" usage of this shunned service sector.
Like everyone else here, I have not engaed in a commercial relationship with a professional.
Well the people i know i think maybe it was more a peer pressure thing. Like your mates egging you on kinda thing. But thats probably a reason for some people.
