Or Nighty Night? I love that show.

Last DVD I bought was Jo Brand's The Best Of Through The Cakehole, though. I almost did a little wee watching it. :p Depends if you like her or not, of course.

I can't seem to get into Green Wing but a LOT of people I know (and who usually have impeccable taste in comedy) positively thrive on it, so maybe it's worth a second look.

The Day Today - its from the same people who did Brass Eye but I think its better.

If you want something a bit different and you like Peep Show you should buy That Mitchell and Webb Sound on CD.

Is that where Alan Partridge originated?

No, he started on a Radio 4 comedy show called On The Hour (also worth buying). This then changed into The Day Today, which then turned into Alan Partridge and Brass Eye.

If you like The Office then I'm sorry, I can't actually recommend anything you would find funny. The only time Gervais would be funny is if he was hit by a truck, smearing two miles of tarmac with his face.

    But I digress.

On CD, I'd buy On The Hour, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, The Mary Whitehouse Experience.

On DVD I'd buy Nightingales, The Day Today, The Mighty Boosh, Drop the Dead Donkey...

I love The Office, I don't think I'll ever get sick of it. There aren't many characters who balance the laugh/cringe factor as well as Brenty.

I think the real glory of it is the way it was so beautifully cast. There wasn't a person - not even in a teeny one-off, supporting role - who I thought could've been better cast. :)

    There's no accounting for taste.

The premise of the Office was done far better with Drop the Dead Donkey.

Although I am biased because I think Gervais is less funny than being told your daughter's been raped and your son is joining the BNP. The rest of the cast are quite funny though.

So having loved it so much, I decided with some trepidation to watch the American version, fully expecting to loathe it. And, to my great surprise, I really enjoyed it and I think it's so well done. The Brent character is not just a copy of Brent, but annoying and embarrassing in subtly different ways. The only real disappointments about it for me so far have been the Gareth character, who is alright but nowhere near as funny as Gareth, and the lack of a Chris Finch character, though maybe he arrives in later episodes.

As an Office devotee, I can heartily recommend it, which is amazing as I truly expected to hate it.

Well with that glowing recommendation, I'm going to have to check it out! I have heard good things though, which surprised me too, as I expected everyone who loved the original to go into automatic snob mode (as I have often done myself) and tear it to shreds.

I'll see your Seinfeld and raise you a Frasier, though that's a whole different kettle of fish comedy-wise.
