Another bad guy, another game.

What are everyone's views on the situation with the internet? I'm talking about how whenever a villain of humanity appears, there are countless mp3s and games involving them dying.

For example, has anyone played the game where u shoot osama bin laden (one of the many) first u shoot him normally, then you shoot both his arms off and then u have to shoot him in the head 3 times to kill him.
Or the shockwave song where bush is singing about "hey mr.taliban hand over bin laden (daylight come and we drop de bomb)

I personally don't think it's right to turn the worst criminals in history into celebrities. It's making light of all the terrible things that they have done. It's not just Osama. Before that it was Hussain.

What does everyone else think? I was going to put this in The Net but thought it was more apt here.

(Merry Christmas everyone anyway  )

    I think they are a satirical way of taking the piss out of these terrorist scum. If you can't look at a situation and make the best of it then there is no point in living in my opinion.
    The people who design/watch these cartoons are trying to make the best of the tragedy, by taking the piss at someone else's expense.

    what do you think these terrorist scum find more confusing, baffling and annoying? the fact that we grieve for lost ones and have a heavy heart, feel the pain THEY purposely inflicted on us, or prove that we are decadent capitalists with too much time on our hands and make games and cartoons that make fun of them

    methinks the latter. assuming they even know what the internet is, for that metter.

    several other points. humour (with a U diesel and thanatos) is a good way to deal with tragedy and crisis. so why not have some fun out of this whole situation.

    another to think about is the spread of information. my sister is 11 - as much as i have tried, she understands very little of what is actually going on. enuff to grasp the basics - explosions, death, us against them, but it is songs like "hey mr taliban" that spell out the story for her, they allow her to understand.

    and i daresay that this not only applies to 11 year old girls, but also to a lot of ill-educated people out there who are scared and worried. not always accurate, but memorable and exceptionallly useful as a tool to spread information.

    all in all, i thikn it's a great thing. each time i see one, it gives me renewed appreciation of how much these fuckers need to die.

    Maybe I'm sad, but I think a lot of the Bin Laden games are actually quite funny.

    When I studied Nazi Germany we all used to crack jokes in what I admit was pretty bad taste about the people involved and the things that happened. We talked about this and I recall that we agreed it was just the only way one could stay sane. In some bizarre way parts of it were so sick and disgusting that you had to laugh.

    Hitler has only got one ball;
    Goering has two, but very small;
    Himler, has two similar;
    but Goebels, has no balls, at all.

    it is quite complicated, by mocking your enemy you lessen your fear of him, by killing "his" avatar you demonstrate that you are not at risk from him. They also dehumanise the targerts, so we feel less guilty about attacking them.

    people make them because they are popular, they get their 15 minutes of fame.

    Exactly, when British soldiers during the first and second world wars pictured German soldiers they pictured huge blonde uber men with a passion for bad beer and sausages.
    What they realised was that they were fighting against people not that different from themselves.
    Imagine if you met Bin Laden in a street, he was wearing jeans, and no gun. You could beat the shit out of him, thats what these movies do. They strip away the huge "evil" exterior in order to reveal a sad, sadistic pitiful excuse for a human being.

    Oh my! Someone actually got the right lyrics! Man, I'm impressed - most of the time I hear the "Albert Hall" version.

    Yeah, mocking one's enemy is part of it. But it wasn't just that - we'd crack jokes about the KZ's and Death's Head lot, too. Sick, I know, but there's no way you can digest six million dead. It's so sickening you have to laugh or else you'll go insane.

    Yes, but did anyone consider that those cartoons and songs were made to help in the grieving process? I know it sounds sick, but everyone has their own way of dealing with sadness. I didn't cry at my grandmother's funeral, and no, I didn't make a movie about it, but does that make me sick and twisted because I grieve in other ways other than that? They do say laughter is the best medicine...
