same happens with st andrews day in scotland, no big fuss but come st patricks the pubs are packed out and have st patrick day events on, makes no sense to me!!

I dont celebrate any of the st days.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
i dont do any of them

except for a few years ago we had a st. patricks day charity fundraiser for the air ambulance, where our entire (big) family went and gave donations in excahnge for a free irish breakfast. was very nice. but then again, my family is all irish anyway, so maybe its not so bad?

I kinda have to celebrate it/get completely rat-arsed, having it as the name of my med school and everything!

Our little village has a bit of a celebration on the local green. The local pub encourages it. Everybody just gets pissed, has a BBQ, and kicks around a football.

I feel that Snakebite and cheesy music is demanded on this special day.

Oh, and some of Young's excellent bitter 'St. George's'

I don't celebrate any of them, nor I am aware of when any of them even are.

I think St George's day should be made a national holiday. A lot of our heritage seems to be getting lost slowly, and while diversity isn't necessarily a bad thing i think we should have a chance to celebrate the English nationality like many other nations do with theirs.

I'm working (in a pub) so we'll see whether more people than usual turn out.

    I agree.

I hate the fuss given to St Pats day in my area, all the people I know who make a big fuss ain't even Irish.

I'm not making a big deal, but I don't ever make a big deal out of the saints days.

woooo i love it, to the pub for re-joicing and partying with my friends.

means 100% more than st patricks day which is just an excuse to get drunk.

this is our national day, lets celebrate

I LOVE St. Georges Day. I agree with Duffy, I think it should be a national holiday. My boyfriend is in the army and has been doing all his marching and saluting this morning, I think it's mint.

I think it's a complete disgrace that people don't know when it is.

i didnt make a big fuss about patricks day

yeh i agree it should be a national holiday. we tend to make more of st paddys!

my sisters birthday is on st georges day. think that's the only reason i know when it is.

Paddy's day only has a fuss because Diageo see it as a great way of making a fuckload of cash.

The pub in the next village along had all the flags and bunting out, it was really nice. Such a great day for a walk along the river and several pints too.

Typical English weather down here - fucking rained - but still had the pnces with the bells on dancing around the local pub. Roast Beef for dinner and now a decent Bitter to wash it all down...

i waved at the st georges day parade that went past my flat this afternoon, all the brownies and cubs and stuff and marching bands.

i love things like parades, i make everyone in the flat watch them out the windows because i feel really bad for the people involved if there isnt many people there to see it
