Christians slaughtered in church

Christians slaughtered

Constantly we are told that this isnt a war on religion but do you think we should have let the muslims know that?

What I find hard to fathom is the relationship these people have with their religion. Everything they do is related to Islam, when they take a shit its allahs will.

They also seem to think that we, in the west are the same with Christianity. Now id say that less than 30% of Brits are active Christians that regularly go to church and read the bible. These people obviously saw Christianity as linked to the west. Unfortunately the Christians throughout the arab world will probably be butchered now.

I wonder the reaction if a bunch of western soldiers waded into a mosque and gunned down all the muslims on their little mats.

What would be the point of that? I can't believe you've put this, you're pathetic. We're better than that, obviously you're not.

WTF? Are you stupid? How can you possibly read that as me suggesting our soldiers do such a thing? I was just commenting on the massive uproar about religious slaughter that would occur if christian troops did the same thing.

Damn Kirk, I thought you had been reading my posts long enough to know I dont think that way.

The massacre of the christians is proof of the brain washing that these people go through in the name of religion, they have no respect or tolerance for people of other cultures and as such should be taught a lesson. Maybe if they stop watching Al-Jazeera, that would be a good start.

The government has eyes and ears everywhere, big brother is watching you.

religion is the bane of this world, it really is a piece of shit. we know enuff so that we no longer have to be god fearing, we are all intelligent people, even in the 2nd and 3rd world, we know that god is not going to smite us down for saying fuck - if he did, i'd've been smited down to china by now.

it will be extremely interesting to see MacKenzie's reaction to this, knowing how much he just LOVES religion, faith and everything that goes with it.

like i said b4, this world if fucked up and it's pissing me off.

    Like Marx said;
"religion is the opium of the masses".
As scientific understanding increases it is inevitable that our faith in God and religion dwindles.
It's also not surprising that in countries as backward as Afghanistan and Pakistan rely on religion to explain everything.

    Well, this time I'll forgive you for pre-empting me... <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif">

Damn, it's all been said. You do all know what I think about faith. The posts above are in almost total agreement with my own opinions.

I think I'll go away and be a cynic. Let me know if anyone sticks hir head above the parapet so I can get some practice in.

There are some radical 'christian' groups in US...and if someone from one of these groups opens up on a mosk full of moslems or hits it with explosives I for one won't be surprised in the least.

It is a 'holy' war...get over all the pc krap and realize that we are in that war whether we like it or not...it is a religious and a race war and it won't end until one side is gone forever...take your time or use nukes...same results are required.

Religion is poision...but matters of faith we hold dear.

Just pray a dirty bomb or real nuke isn't detonated in London, Berlin or Paris...by 'them' to make their 'point' of faith known to 'ala' or whatever it is they worship.

And do understand, this is not something that I am advocating, but rather how I perceive events as they are occuring.

Obviously, I am. I misunderstood, I didn't think it was a suggestion that Western soilders actually should kill Islamic people, but, it did seem rather silly to suggest such an awful thought. The reaction would be outrage and wouldn't solve anything at all. My point was; Why wonder what the responce if we did the same as the Taliban? It'll never happen and just makes 'us' sound as bad as them. I apologise, ok?

"...their little mats", that sounded a little bit condesending, it is a religous ceremony you know.

P.S. Balddog: two wrongs don't make a right.

It wasnt silly in any way whatsoever. The Islamic lobby are always complaining that this seems like a war against their religion. If the roles in this situation were revered then there would be massive outrage and we would rightly be blasted by every sane person around. Theres no outrage about this attack because we dont want to give the impression that muslims arent ALL peaceful and nice.

clutching at straws now arent you? Trying to get a little dignity back?
Do muslims use mats to pray on? Are they made for one man and therefore small? Muslims pray on little mats, thats fact so im not sure how you see it as condescending.
P.S. Balddog: two wrongs don't make a right.

PS Kirk, I never suggested taking any kind of action. I posed a hypothetical scenario and wondered on the outrage of such a scenario.

Kirk, does the word rhetorical mean anything to you? i've got this tiny little feeling that Balddog was posing what is known as a "rhetorical" (big word, i know...oh dear me, i wasn't just condescending then was i?) question.

leave it be kirk, balddog made a very good point and ur not doing a very good job at rebutting it.

If there's anything more important than my ego around here, i want it caught and shot now

Rhetorical- as in a question that requires no answer, as in because it anwsers itself or is just to highlight an area of thought?

Excuse me, now I realize Balddogs thread is the very definition of "RHETORICISM", I'll just get my coat and leave. Turtle, as I pick up my crayons and Lego bricks (with which I will amuse myself for the evening) I'll do my very best to avoid a tantrum. I hope this extra effort I'm making for you is appreciated.

No, as in rhetoric as taught and practiced by a rhetor. Having studied both history and languages you'll know what they are.

And could someone please tell me what they think the difference is between religon and faith? It's not just the taking of axioms, or the invocation of a 'supernatural' force, surely?

You're damn right we need a rational code of morality and ethics. But not much progress can be made in that direction while we've still got a majority ranting about gods, devils, souls, and absolute morality, and using an ancient book written by ignorant nomads as a guide.

Either you just can't read or your sense of humour is about as highly developed as the dust mite that just floated across my desk.
