Which is the true religion of god?

Each person is born in a circumstance which is not of his own choosing. The religion of his family or the ideology of the state is thrust upon him from the very begining of his existence in this world. By the time he reaches his teens, he is usually fully brainwashed into believing that the beliefs of his particular society are the correct beliefs that everyone should have. However, when some people mature and are exposed to other belief systems, they begin to question the validity of their own beliefs.
The seekers of truthoften reach a point of confusion upon realizing that each and every religion, sect, idiology and philosophy claims to be the only one correct way for man. Indeed, they all contain some valid and reasonable points and they all encourage people to do good.
Like every other religion or Philosophy, Islam also claims to be the one and only true way to God.
In this respect it is no different from other systems.

No, the "One True" stuff is very Judaic. The Buddist philosopy, for example, allows other paths to "enlightenment"

You are right byny, anyone who is brought up in a religious environment from a young age is bound to grow up thinking it to be the right religion.

I believe its called brainwashing or indoctrination. People who believe strongly are very resistant to the idea that theres might not be the right way.

Islam is the same as most religions in that it brainwashes kids. The difference with Islam is that it seems to have a lot more fundamentalists or extremists who are willing to kill and die in the name of god.

Now I have neither fully read the Koran or the Bible so im not an expert on theology by any means. It does seem to me that the Koran contains a lot of 'kill the infidels and heathers' kinda thing. The language of the Koran is the only explaination I can see of the disproportionate amounts of Islamic fundamentalists...Now its either Arabs who have a predispostion toward terrorism/extremism or is Muslims. Considering there are tons of Taliban forces from China and other asian states means that its down to the teachings of Islam.

    Just my 2p

I spose I should actually answer your question <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">...I dont believe in any kind of God so I dont believe any religion is the true religion.. Religion is a crutch and until I see some kind of proof then ill continue to believe its just BS.

Even if ou're not religious, sit down and read Genesis cover to cover. Talk about violence! You gotta love the children of israel wiping out complete civilisations in canaan just because they believed god was giving them the land. Charming.

Religions. In my view they're each as bad as eachother. Any self-respecting god would be tearing his (or her) pillow at the way humans managed to take messages of peace, love and understanding and manage to interpret them as the opposite. The hypocracy is incredible. If I were god I would have made a right and proper job of the flood, Noah be damned.

ha ha. OK seriously though. That kind of "one true way" is incredably racist, no? I mean what chance does some tribesman in the amazon have if islam turns out to be the way? or the mormans for that matter? It doesn't make any sense.

Most religions do have good points which, once taken out of the religious context are good ways to live. "Do unto others", for example, promotes empathy and I think it's a wise thing. But when incorporated into religion, the good stuff gets twisted and used to oppress: "kill the infadel" and all that. I think I'll try to learn from the wisdom of others and the mistakes of the past, and get on with it as best I can. Don't need a god for that, just a brain.

But - remember - it's just the fundamentalists who twist and corrupt the Koran to say things like 'kill all infidels'
Most people following Islam do not believe this.
Incidentally - I too am not religious, I wasn't brought up that way. When living in Ireland we were thought of as even odder than the Protestants, and the Catholics would tell us we were going to burn in hell - pretty scary for a four year old.
As I grew up I continued to have no belief in God, Heaven etc. However - I respect other peoples freedom to believe in GOD or whatever as long as they are good people and don't hurt those who choose not to follow their religion.

Very true but there must be a reason why there are so many Islamic fundamentalists as opposed to Christian or Jewish fundamentalists for example. Maybe its just their time in history for the whackos to come out? Theres gotta be a reason for it though.

    I guess you are right.

Is the reason - that their religion/faith is so much stronger
    or
that the taking of another life for the cause of Islam is really pushed as important.

If it's the latter why don't people in the western world who follow Islam commit such acts of terror.
Could it be that the people responsible for these acts are hiding behind their religion, and in fact there is more to it than just a belief that non believers (of Islam) deserve to be wiped off the earth?

Could it also be because they have suffered years of opression?
