the war is justified

I think nobody can now doubt that the stratergy of the us bombings has worked a treat, hopefully we've heard the last of all this anti-war nonsense . Having over-thrown the taliban, it now seems important members af al-queda are been taken out. You feel the net is tightening on bin laden, the people of kabul are liberated, and there is a prospect of peace in afghanistan, although i understand there is a long way to go, we've come along way already. So i suggest anti-war types evaluate the pro's and con's of the whole episode so far, and realise, the 'we can't bomb them, but i don't what else we can do' approach simply would of not resulted in todays succsess. May i also add a note of congratulations to mr bush, who much to my suprise didn't go mad and just drop one big bomb on the lot of em, he showed restraint in the face of provigation.

C'mon guys, you know bombing achieves nothing.

This is why Kosovo is having it's first democratic election EVER - why Milosevic is sitting in a prison cell rather than a palace - why the women in Kabul are smiling (ad infintum)

and none of that was a result of boming...

"Someone said 'Give peace a chance',
And thats all that we're saying,
While we're sitting on a fence, pretending
Our lives are in the right place,
But your face,
Shows a trace of
hypocrisy..."

Certainly wasn't the result of hippies waving banners around!

I am an 'anti-war' type (I'm not but its a lable and it sticks)

And I admit it I was 'slightly' wrong as Balddog put it.

But can I make a few points?

1)We where all 'slightly' wrong, no one thoughts this would happen this quickly. Remember the four years or even fifty?

2)"the people of kabul are liberated" They are most definitly not liberated yet, we have to wait and see if 'peace keepers' can get in yet.

3)In one of the northen citys (I forget the name) there are six groups claiming dominance, and some fighting. Which could lead to....

4)As I have always said, even if UBL is caught/killed this won't stop terrorism.

5)The fucking hipocracy of our leaders is still astounding.

6)"Hippies waving banners around" does acheve things somtimes, its just a time and a place thing.

I think thats it <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">

O.k maybe we can settle this once and for all. I feel the action so far is justified and have supported it throughout. If you know, tell me how we could of approached it differently, to achieve equal results. To sit and pick out things that havn't fallen into place yet is also fairly typical, the government are trying to sort it and it will take time. You may also like to take note of the hard diplomatic work which has been going on to ensure a more peaceful future, usa and russia, uk and the middle eastern countries - the whole situation is in my opinion as good as anyone could of dreamed as we all woke on september the 12th reflecting on the previous days events. A final point, killing ozzie b may not stop terrorism but there are very few terrorist organisations with the finance, complex network and dedicated loonies than his, destroying i WOULD make the world a safer place if unfortunatly not entirely safe. Lets hope some bin laden wannabies and the regimes sheltering them learn a lesson in all of this.

You don't know that... I thought it was a great stratagy, and its a shame it was never fully implemented. Maybe when we go on to bomb whatever other countries we go on to bomb...

I totally agreed with the bombing campaign when it came to destroying the Taliban but haven't we just replaced one with another by helping the Northern Alliance, after all the Taliban was supported by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia when it took over Afganistan

I keep hearing this and theres no doubt about the na are a dodgy bunch, however with the worlds eyes on them and a large military threat surrounding afghanistan they would be extremely stupid to step out of line, YET. I think america are using them to break down the taliban at minimal damage to themselves, then when the place has more stability, will move in with the un and try and sort out a government involving all factions, this may cause a na revolt but we'll just have to chase them up into yhe mountains after the taliban. Into the bargain i personally don't beleive the na are as bad as the taliban, the biggest threat is fighting amongst themselves ! lets just hope we don't walk of and let them get on with it, now that would be stupid
