why aren't benefits wasted?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
almost all people on benefits from experience spend it, surely then as it goes back into circulationand thus goes back into the government/companies cofers - this is a good thing?

without benefit money ...many corner shops and the likes would go bust.
a billion quid circulating has to be good.

Yeah, at least it's not being locked up in bricks and mortar like most people's wages.

It's pure and simple waste because all those people sat around doing nothing on stolen resources could be actually doing something for it.

It's waste because it's resopurces (not money, money isn't an issue here) not placed into businesses for wealth creation.

It's waste because it gives incentives for people to not do anything.

It's waste because it removes consequences of bad choices.

    Hell, it's waste. End of.

    Who's fault is it then?

Let the poor work and soon they aren't poor.

They can eat what the fuck they want once everyone is churning our goods and services.

Don't worry about it though Kermit, the first thing anyone is bothered about is the poor so there would obviously be loads of private charity about if you stopped your stealing.

Benefits are pissing me right off ATM. The harder you try, the less help you get! The way a lot of benefits are awarded is like a tether keeping you that low. If you try to get better qualified to improve your earning potential 'bam' there go your benefits etc... In my imaginary world you'd get help if you were helping yourself and not if you weren't, help if the circumstances were avoidable, and not if they weren't etc... </rant>

The fuckers who laid you off because they could make more money by paying some Thai man 20p a week to do the same job?

    I quite agree.

    Do let them.

Ah yes, that wonderful charity that had people in workhouses living off nothing but marrow and water?

Why aren't you willing to work for 20p a week?

It wouldn't be because there are other jobs that pay more nearby would it?

Why can't you statrt your own business to out compete the fuckers?

When they could have been working..yes.

You can't survive on 20p a week... Ever been on minimum wage? Ever worked?

The economy works on exploiting people...

You can survive on less. Nope, never. I wouldn't accept something that was only in place because of violence.

    Only the government bits.

So you're on the dole then?

Just out of curiousity... How old are you? if you don't mind me asking...

How can you feed yourself on 20p a week?

If you don't have money you can't afford land, no land to live off then no food... You cannot even buy a loaf of bread for 20p...

Then again, I guess the bins at the back of Sainsbury's will do Ok.

I'm guessing you don't get benefits then.

Survive on less than 20p a week? Not even the poorest of students has to make do on that! :p If you don't work, how do you pay for things? How, for instance, do you pay for the Internet connection that allows you to access TheSite?

Ask people for food. Trade work for stuff directly. Theres a million and one things you can do and the fact that you can't think of any of them....well..viva la state education!

Money is just one way to persuade people to do things for you.

    Good guess.

Exactly. If you don't take benefits, you have to do something for other people in order to live. Which is how it should be.

I don't pay for the connection atm.

my son in laws is also paid for by his isp.
he didn't pay his phone bill ...phone cut off.
he went to a different phone company.
but ...the original phone company never got round to removing the card from his BB slot at the exchange ...8 months down the line he's still connected!

I'd better not tell my dad that some people are getting it paid for them. Knowing he has to pay about £16 a month drives him bananas as it is.

    Bingo!

They have to do a manual disconnect at the little box in the road, unlike your phone which they just turn off. If you have a linked phone/internet account then the internet stays on for free if you cancel because the lazy sods don't bother doing it right.

From a macroeconomic perspective social security is useful as it stabilises aggregate demand during a slump thus lessening the extent of the recession.

Means the business cycle is less volatile, less boom and bust etc
