going to the movies by yourself

Following from Youngbull's thread about eating in restaurants alone, do you ever go to the movies by yourself?

Most of my friends think it's sort of humiliating or something... for me - couldn't care less.

I've been going to see films by myself for aaaages. I just like movies too much to wait around for a friend or someone who wants to go with me. And since I've been single forever I guess i just didn't have a choice if I didn't want to miss the films I wanted to see.

I used to. Lately I don't, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't. I just usually find someone to go with.

Who gives a fuck. It's like those "would you go to a gig by yourself" threads. It's hardly as though people are staring at ya!

I don't like going to the movies on me own. It's the sort of thing I'd prefer to share with a friend. Watch a good movie, then go somewhere else afterwards for a bit of craic.

It's not like you're there to socialise.

Not me. But I had a mate who would buy one ticket and screenhop all day instead of going to college. :thumb:

I've never been on my own. I guess it can seem a bit odd though. But then again, even if you go to the cinema with someone you don't talk to em much throughout the film anyway, so being alone wouldn't mean you miss out on much!

I would feel like a loner if I went on my own.

I wouldnt go on my own, there's always some one that wants to go to see the same film. I dont think theres anything wrong with it though, apart from when they laugh REALLY loudly, all on thier own. it creeps me out

i never have gone to cinema on my own, but thats not to say i never will!! i looove cinema visits but most of the time my mates dont want to go, are are too skint so cant so usually i dont end up going. generally i do like going with other people because i like having someone to hang round with and chat to before the movie starts.

next year when i bring my car up to uni i see myself going to cinema on my own quite a bit though. the cinema i usually go to is pretty huge so there wouldnt be too much chance of me seeing someone i know and getting embarassed.. (which i would be)

I never have. I only usually go to the cinema when somebody else wants to see something and it's nice to have someone to talk about the film with after aswell.. I probably would though.. nout wrong with it.
