What are your views on having a TV in the bedroom (for couples)

I know some people don't care but some really do think it's a bad idea,

I do best tv viewing in bed espacially if it's a long movie ... but guess it depends on the other half

Bedrooms are for two things - sex and sleeping. Televisions should be kept out.

i dont really like it, but have one now for videos only. Problem is, they either keep me awake when i dont want to, or send me to sleep when i want to watch it.

My TV is in the bedroom because my bedroom is the livingroom :p

I like lying in bed watching films at night with my boyfriend. I'm useless at staying awake during films at night so it means I don't need to get up to go to bed :)

We've got a tv in all the bedrooms. I think they are great.

When your feeling ill and just want to lay down and watch some tv, the bed is better than a couch.
If you just want to go lay down for bed but aren't tired yet, the tv is great.
Can watch porn while you have sex on the bed.
You can watch tv while the other person is sleeping.
You can watch the news while you get ready in the morning.

I think tv in the bedroom is great.

Well, we bought another tv to replace the one that broke in the bedroom, don't think we've watched it since.

So I guess they are pointless. Probably needed for the teens of this generation though, to keep them happy.

I heard recently that couples who have tvs in their room (and watch them on a regular basis) have a poorer sex life than those who don't.

Haha. Which way does the causality go though? ;)

I don't care much for TVs in the first place so I don't plan on keeping one inside my bedroom. Ever.

They're great when you're 14 and your bedroom is your world, but I really wouldn't have one now.

I've always had and always will have a TV in my bedroom.
Poorer sex life?? Watching Porn while getting noshed off - can't think of much better lol. TV's only on when I'm having sex if Porn is being played.

Couldn't imagine waking up on a weekend with a head that feels like its being stamped on continuously and having to get up to watch TV. Wake up turn the box on, ring someone up to come round and make me a cup of tea and bring me some paracetamol and then chill out in bed till the tablets kick in and I can be arsed moving.

I think theres nothing wrong with having a tv in the bedroom, watching films late at night in bed is comfy and snuggly lol

How would it be bad for couples?

    "I wanna have sex"

    "But Eastenders is on!"

Can't really see that happening. I like having a TV in my room, I find it hard to sleep without watching it.

 I cant see it happening either.. besides- who in there right mind would pick Eastenders over sex? Or ANY other TV show saying that.

I don't have one in the house, let alone the bedroom.

I've got sky+ in my room and i love it! I don't see how it gets in the way of sex at all, there is a big red off button on most tv's.
Theres no way that i want to sit down stairs with my bro my dad his girlfriend and her brood and watch the tv or something :| Also my boyfriend always falls asleep before me and it would be soso boring just sitting there wide awake for 2 hours. To be honest most people i know have Tv's in their bedroom.

I can't get reception downstairs, and I don't have a sofa so I have my TV up in my bedroom. It's not ideal, it's not great for sleeping, you are supposed to keep your bedroom for just sleeping and relaxing.

Hmm, a TV in my bedroom has never appealed to me - even when I was younger - but each to their own.. I suppose it depends on how much time you spend in your own room, too, it probably wouldn't be worth the cost in terms of how much viewing I'd actually do.

Maybe if I was ever in a house-sharing situation where our tastes in TV programmes were polar opposites ...but that's not the case at the moment so no need. :)

I don't know anybody around my age who doesn't have a TV in their room. But then older generations e.g. my parents/grandparents don't have a TV. So definately something more widespread among youunger people.

I don't think there is anything wrong with having a TV in your (e.g. a married couples) bedroom. Watching movies and snuggling up is fun

i dont have a tc in my bedroom, only because its where i do my uni work, and id never get any work done

When I lived with my boyfriend we had a TV in our bedroom. It sucked because he insisted on leaving it on when I had to get up for work in the morning. So yeah it can cause arguements if your boyfriend/girlfriend is a total knobber.

i don't see how having a telly makes any difference at all. if you want to have sex you don't think 'oh shit, the telly's on. best not'.

i guess it depends how much time you spend in your bedroom. mine isn't just for 'sleep and sex' as SG puts it. i use mine for chilling out/doing work etc.

But thats different, if you are living at home with your parents its totally normal to have a TV in your bedroom because its your only personal space. But when you get your own place the whole place is personal space.

I've got my own place though and I still chill in my bedroom on a weekend morning and watch tv. Also if theres something on late that I want to watch I'll go to bed and watch it. I don't understand all these people dead against it, can't see it making any difference what-so-ever.
