Hi guys

I am going to the dominican republic and as you can see from my title i am staying with a dominican family whilst i am there. I was planning on locking my passport in my suitcase, do you think this would be a good way to keep my passport safe? Do you have any tips on keeping your passport safe?

I don't want to be walking round with my passport all the time and i intend on taking a photocopy should i need to provide id.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Do you need it quickly? Is there anywhere you can put it for safe keeping - the consulate, a bank, etc?
