Anyone been to Magaluf?

i'm going on a girly holiday this summer and can't wait. i've heard all positive and negative stuff about the place but surely it's the company you keep even if it is rough and a chav home from home? please reassure me!!!!

wouldnt be somewhere that i go, if i wanted a holiday like that theres plenty of places over here, and unfortunately its a popular destination for some unsavoury people, but having said that, if i was there i'd probably make the most of it and have a good time. so good luck!

i guess its one of my issues, i dont like going places that are just home from home, everytime ive been somewhere thats "popular" i always bump into someone i know, and that takes some of the fun out of it for me. i prefer to go places a bit different. theres nothing more fun than walking in to a bar with a few mates and not understanding a word that you say or they say.

probably wont go on a package holiday again until i have a family i guess.

I am going there too in July on a girly holiday! I have heard that the nightlife is wicked and just to give you the heads up, you can get a boat to Ibiza :yippe: for a night, Sunday is meant to be the night to go! Also if your single, its like 4 blokes to 1 girl out there! :cool:

Ibiza is bloody miles away so i highly doubt theres a boat trip there.
Also, the guys to girls ratio you've mentioned - didnt seem anything like that when i went, was pretty evenly matched.
Tbh i dont think the day you go out really matters, it was pretty great every night.

I'll agree with the others who have been though its fantastic! Pretty much all of the bars and clubs are on this one long strip (big hill) so its really easy to stumble out of one place and straight into another.
Things i can recommend:
Popcorn partys! These are wickidy, just like a foam party only loads and loads of popcorn is shot at you from a big cannon

(Dj) Dela-creme - This guy is well worth seeing and always managed to play just the right style of music to keep everybody jumping.
Mini golf in palma nova - Its only about 10 minutes walk away from the main strip and is a right laugh. Can get really hot though as theres not much protection from the sun here.

Things i didnt like:
Prostitutes - there were loads of them around and got really annoying by the end of the holiday. Try not to end up walking back your hotel by yourself as its hard to get rid of them.
Drug dealers - There were quite a few of these around as well when i went, these leave you alone pretty much if you just say a firm no, dont try and have a laugh with them though or they will be there all night. we were told that foreigners get a pretty rough deal if they caught by the police.
Annoying reps for shitty bars - Fair enough if someone is trying to pull you into a decent bar but when you get conned into going somewhere with nobody else inside it sucks.

The bad points arent really all that noticable however and the good more than outweighes the bad. Have a great time, im sure you'll love it! :hyper:

i'm glad to hear all that. the prostitute thing as weird as it sounds wouldn't bother me anyway as there were prostitutes all around my school (all girls school!!!). i've always been put off going to places like spain because i'd bump into people that i know but i've been to other less popular places like nigeria and canada and italy (popular in the sense of british yob culture infiltrating places). can't wait to go and get pissed with the girlies and have some memories that'll last forever...how sad. staying in palma nova so will look out for the mini golf.

am off to learn some spanish.

i went to magaluf last summer, its not rough. Watch out for the locals, they will do anything to get money out of you, including stealing.

All in all it was a great week, nighlife is good and everyone is really friendly. BCM is overated though, i preffered the smaller bars, they were more of a laugh. In BCM there were too many groups of lads

Ditto on that one. i saw a fair few fights in there. the bouncers didnt really seem to give a fuck either.

Are you sure as a my mate who is going with me heard it from a co worker, by boat i mean Ferry by the way.......its meant to be 20 euros or something?? i looked at some reviews as well and someone else mentioned it.......

majorca and ibiza are next to each other, its quite a long boat trip, maybe 4 hours? and it is more than 20Euros, more like 60-100, if i remember rightly. I dont think its worth it, you may aswell stay in magaluf. Remember drinks in the big Ibiza clubs cost roughly 10 Euros each.

whereas in maga you can get for example... 2 shots 2 vodka mixers and a coctail all for 5 euros

Everyone i know calls it shagaluf, so no not really the type of place i'd want to go. But im sure its the people your going with not the people there that will make or break your hol.

Yeah i know, its funny as all the resorts are pretty much the same wherever you go!!

I went to magaluf with my girlie mates when I was 16 and loved it, I wouldn't go now though but at that stage in my life it was a great adventure. I didn't see any of the bad stuff thats been posted but I guess my inocent eyes just ignored it. BCM is over-rated like people have said but if you can and have the money make a trip to pacha in palma, its wicked! x

I went in September last year with a mate, we had an absolute ball. We went with Club 18-30 but we didn't buy the full 'package deal' when we got there, we just bought the ticket to the Booze Cruise. Which was fucking brilliant, we had Ian Redman (Ultrabeat) dj'ing for us, wicked.

BCM is a bit over-rated but you have to at least try it, it's a good laugh especially if there's a big DJ on. We saw Dave Pearce and DJ Sammy (haha) closing parties which were mint.

Boomerangs and Bananas are ace for smaller clubs... and all the bars on the strip do really good drinks deals. We saw Pat Sharp in Boomerangs and Kelly Llorenna in another club! We found one bar on the strip that did Cheeky Vimtos which was amazing until we realised how much port they put in - we were wankered after a couple!!

Both Palma Nova and Magaluf beaches are nice... I found Palma Nova itself to be far nicer as it's not as commercialised even though it is only next door to Magaluf! There's a water park and crazy golf in Palma Nova too.

You'll have a mint time if you're up for sun, booze and boys.

I went Magaluf not last year but the year before. I thought it was good but there wasnt loads and loads of bars and clubs. I personally prefered Falaraki as the strips there were hugh but each to their own. The thing I hated about magaluf was that is was all on a huge hill, and I mean HUGE. Took fooking ages to climb that on your way home after a night out. Got loads of pics but I can't get my scanner to work with my laptop. I'll try and re-install it this afternoon if I can and post some pics

i assume you mean huge, which is ok. i can't wait to go but most of the stuff people are posting i already knew. and to be completely honest almost anything is going to be better than staying in england all summer.
