If hope is something we can only dream of then maybe we should all sleep.
In this world we see all disaster every time we turn around. Pessimism is the creation of the Devil and those who can think that peace or hope can be an option will be safe within themselves and their world.
I dream of new world in which all my fantasies are realised, and truly believe that every mistake we make as a human race is a learning experience.
Comments please....

What gives you your faith in humans then, in the sense of what keeps YOU going?
That eventually we will prosper and enter a new dawn of human enlightenment. That the governments of the world will unite and we will live in peace. I hope that in my lifetime we have begun to conquer our demons.

World peace is nice enough but im not gonna cry if it doesnt get here soon enough..Im sure it will come eventually, in a few hundred years maybe.
I dont need faith in humans to keep me going. I know that most are fundamentally good people..War just happens to be a part of those good people.
The reactions of the world to the WTC attack has refreshed my faith in people...Well most people anyway.

I knew you had it in you somewhere....
Nolite te bastardes carborundorum
I hope that US troops will leave Saudi Arabia and stop propping up corrupt Gulf States.
Then maybe we can start releasing the pressure in the Middle East cauldron.
The trouble is that, although as mentioned the majority of humans are fundamently good it only takes one that is not to come to power and drive weaker people into doing as they say (dictatorships basically) THis is all thats needed to start war.
Unfortunately this world has many more than just 1 person like this in it.Until the evil people who have power and a say over what goes on are killed or kept under control the world will struggle to find piece.

Action without vision is a nightmare.

Its one thing to dream about world peace, but unless you personally are willing to do something about it, then it will certainly never happen.
Personally, I believe that a world without conflict will forever remain a dream. There are too many vested interests in the status quo, religion being one. War will remain all the while humans roam the planet - its in our nature to fight - we are, afterall, the most destructive species on Earth.
"Perhaps my best years are gone, but I wouldn't want them back. Not with the fire in me now." - Samuel Beckett
Brilliant. Just damn brilliant.
War will remain because conflict and progress go hand in hand. :: shrugs ::
I'm not saying that conflict must lead to progress, but that progress cannot happen without some degree of conflict.
True....so true. After we establish that for the world to 'progress' we need conflict, there seems little left else to do than to accept it as a 'state of nature'. We see it everywhere, in all shapes and sizes. People can not fail to agree that fundemental assumption, but is there some other way.
I'm not a communist, as communism truly breeds dictatorship...and if we have power then man can never be equal... Surely a recipe for disaster.
When we imagine the time that humans have existed on this earth it dismays me to think that we have systems that we do, which all too often fail to provide the sense of security we are owed (or perhaps not) as human beings. From the minute we are born we are exposed to conflict all around us.
Is this what life is meant to be about?
If the life process has a purpose, it is purely and simply its own continuation. We have a word that sums this concept up nicely: "good".
Go on, humour me: Think of all the meanings of "good" you can, and see how well they compare to "tends to promote the continuation of the life process." I think you'll find a terribly good correspondence.
More likely a few million....
