Swamped = Racism

Can someone please explain to me how David Blunkett using the word swamped can be considered racist?

For those who don't know, during a Radio 4 interview (which I was listening to), DB said that he was setting up schools for the immigrant's children whilst their applications were being considered.

This was an attempt to prevent some school and GP (and other local services) becoming "swamped".

How is that racist?

    Simple answer, its not.

    Just the usual race baiters in the country doing their normal...It was hilarious hearing that black MP, Abbot I think, talking about how the word swamp was synonymous with the word sewer..I mean WTF? Ive never heard that before.

    My sentiments exactly. Methinks he should consult his thesaurus.

    It looks like we are agreed on this. Making a mountain out of a molehill......

    I agree the reaction is a bit over the top but I would not like to be referred to as "swamping" the system, it is quite offensive and politicians especially should be careful how they word things.
