when i was in strangeways the screw opened our door for supper.
supper is ...a couple of screws escorting a couple of prisoners round the landings. they open your door and you dip your plastic mug in a bucket of hot tea and get a sticky bun ...door closed.
this night ...they asked my cell mate macca ...to go on bucket duty.
only wanted him to go to one cell though ...knowing he was an extremely violent fellah.
when the cell dpoor opened maca hurled the bucket of steaming tea all over the rapist ...whpo when he finnished with a woman would insert a bottle and then smash it inside them ...macca then set about him with the steal bucket.

all was resolved the next morning in front of the governer ...yes sir say both screws ...the guy attacked macca and he tried defending himself ...the guv knows the truth.
the lads on the wing are satisfied for a little while longer.

Hmmm... I'm not sure if the no insurance bit counts really if it's a guy knowingly driving a stolen car.. after all you can't ring up anyone to get cover.

And I dare say the stolen bit is more of a crime then the no insurance part...

But I can't figure out with all the laws he broke he's only gotten 12 weeks?

Just off the top of my head I'd have thought someone having done all those things would be getting 3 to 5 years at a bare minimum.

driving without insurance is a criminal and imp=risonable offence.
you cannot use as your deffence that you couldn't get cover cos the car was nicked your honour!

I believe things like this have always gone on, the only difference is now we are more aware of them because the media has become more powerful. I see/hear a lot of horrendous things at work, which do not appear in the newspapers. I agree that this one should be in for life, but I think that people who say "Is X years enough" often don't understand what prison must be like (not that I know, I'm imagining as well).
