Dave Mill: "unaided" explorer
Hear hear. (or here here, if never know which ).
I don't know if you've been reading about this guy. He's attempting to walk between Canada and the North Pole "unaided" (i.e. alone, but with a back-up team ), bu of course he's got himself stuck on a floating piece of ice, and has had to request an emergency airlift because he cannot get onto dry land, and he thinks he is being stalked by a polar bear.
What's wrong with that?
He's an arrogant prick. He has turned a catastrophic failure (of his) into a personal triumph. He has blamed global warming for his predicament; has continually insisted that he is unaided despite having already received airdrops of supplies; and he is taking glory even from the rescue itself.
Will these people never learn?
The North Pole has already been discovered: it's no longer an adventure - it's a holiday.

Timesonline.co.uk:
Despite having to abandon his third trek, Mr Mill is determined to make a fourth attempt on the North Pole.
“Yes, I will be back next year. I will have a lot more experience to draw on. I am planning to leave a lot earlier and find a better way of crossing water,” he said.

Second, they said that polar bears are a major threat and most explorers take shot guns to kill them. That really pissed me off, just don't go there if it's so dangerous. Humans have wrecked nearly all of this earth and are all too eager to wreck more of it.
