I guess for me it would depend how many times in a row and what the excuses were.

as my_name said depends on how many time in a row and reasons.

I'd start to have second thoughts about them if it was more than twice in a row.
Edit: this goes for both men and women. as i've had women cancel a few times.

i think with guys you gotta be a bitch from the start! if you're too nice they'll walk all over you! well in my experience anyway....

one of my exes used to cancel on me frequently, it used to get me soooooo mad! :banghead: i really hate unreliability in a person!

Unless these cancellations were for real reasons that were unexpected and unaviodable- I''d not stand for it. In my experience, people don't change- if he starts out taking you for granted he'll always do it!

3 times in a row and you can end it on the third time he tells you! Same goes for men getting cancelled by girls.

Unless its something serious, like a death in the family and grief, or death of a pet, or car accident, or something...

depends why they cancelled i guess!

Well, I doubt you should say "it's over" to a guy if he's cancelling a date because of a death in the family, for instance. If the cancellation is for a genuine reason, it's fine. If it's for something silly, that's the point to start considering dumping him.

I don't think death of a pet is a good reason at all. I'd be a bit put off if my date was that soft to be honest.

I'd say if it happened twice in a row then I would start asking him questions and tell him I was pissed off. x

you don't have pets, do you?

we've had 2 of our dogs for coming on 10 years now - i'll be upset when they die.

not sure whether it'd make me miss a date or whatever but some people get very close to their animals and have had them for a few years so don't be so insensitive.

It can be as upsetting to lose a pet as it can be to lose a family member, in fact a pet is a family member.
I had to cancel something once when one of my ferrets died a few years ago because i was so devestated. Doesnt make me soft, just means i have feelings. Similarly my 17 year old cat which we got when i was 4, died a few weeks ago and i didnt feel like socialising.

Death of a pet is a perfectly good reason imo.... if it shows he's that caring about something, then surely it shows some kind of commitment, even if it is for an animal.... and commitment is something I'd see as a good thing! :)

    That's what I'd say too.

Losing a pet is most definitely a legitimate reason for cancelling a date, imo, I agree with the last two posts.

Ok I feel bad now, I'm sorry everyone.

No I don't have any pets, I just think that its a terrible excuse and a bit soft. I'm sorry I expected to totally retract my original post but I just can't do it. Lol.

I feel bad but have to be honest.

think that depends as well, theres a difference between your pet fish dyin or your dog whos been your companion for years.

going back to the original post...
It totally depends on the excuse... two or three times in a row thou n i'd start to think that he might not be that interested. it also depends whether he breaks the news via a quick txt or makes an effort to call, explain & apologise.... oh n be keen to set another date then
