pins and needles/numbness

for some reason i keep getting numbness in my hands and i dont know why!! im not doing anything that will cause it (ie. lying on them, writing etc) and most of the day i have just been lying down on my bed!!
the numbness lasts about 5 minutes each time i get it and even if i shake them it doesnt help!! what could be causing this?!!
ive also had pins and needles numerous times in my legs and feet although that was only minor compared to hands!!
could it be because of lack of circulation?? i have been ill for the last 2 days but i dont know how this could be connected to the other symtoms ive been having! (nausea, cramps, headache)
what can i do to help stop this? its really starting to frustrate me!!!
