Sorry for so many questions regarding my iupcoming trip. I'm in Dublin for a week staying at a hostile. Should I bring my most prized posession? How safe are hostiles? Can I bring it without a fear of losing it if I leave it in the sleeping place? I looked online and it is a dorm type set up, no seperate rooms (kill me) Is it alright would you say? Its worth absoutly zero in cash to anybody at all, even the homeless crack head, but its worth everything to me.

Its spelt hostel, like I said hostile is a word meaning rude or unpleasant.

I wouldn't take expensive electronics, but your general clothes and stuff like that should be fine. They may well have lockers you can use for expensive things.

This wouldn't be a cuddly lion friend, would it? :p;)

Hostels are pretty safe, although there's a kind of unspoken honour-system between travellers and things do get stolen from time to time when there's an dodgy geezer about. When I was in Austria my friend had her Euros stolen from her backpack...but she really shouldn't have left them in there.

If you're sensible and keep cash, cards, other "valuables" (as in, what others would see as valuable) with you then you'll be fine. As bongbudda said they often have lockers, though more often than not in hostels I've been in they've had a safe where they'll keep your passport, large amounts of currency etc at your request.

If you haven't already, then it'd be a good idea to invest in some kind of padlock for your backpack/suitcase. Just a normal one would do, but you can get specialist ones from outdoorsy-type shops usually. Then you can shove all your important/sentimental/valuable items in the bag, secure them and leave them in the dorm without fretting! :)

I'd go with most of this. Take sensible precautions and make sure your money and passport is with you all the time and it should be OK. Some of the Hostels in Europe are actually pretty nice places, I spent a fortnight in one in Paris which was great, but I'm not sure how that translates over to Ireland.

if it means that much to you, don't bring it. Its not worth taking the risk of it being lost or stolen.

I hope you do come to england, love to see ya ;-)
