Mottos

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I know this has probably been done before but does anybody have a motto/saying that they live by? What is it/ are they?

Mine are simple.... 'shit happens' and 'everything will be alright in the end'.

    'no regrets'
    'things always work out'

I used to have several, at different times... Not sure if I believe any of those right now.
    Examples:
    • You can never succeed if you're afraid of failure.
    • One person after another, you can change the world.
    • Prepare for the worst and you're prepared for anything.
    • Carpe diem.
The last one is what I'm trying to believe these days...

    Things can always get worse...

It's kind of a "you might be feeling shit, but things can always get worse, so don't be too down about it"...doesn't work, like.

    that's a bit depressing!

but i guess it makes sense.

i'd prefer to think 'things can only get better'.

Oh yes, I had (have?) that one too. I phrased it more like "No matter how bad you think you have it, there will always be someone who's worse off."

I read a book years ago, and there was talk of a bumper sticker "motto" which has always stayed with me - "life's a shit sandwich - but only if you're a shithead".

“Two or three things I know for sure, and one of them is that if we are not beautiful to each other, we cannot know beauty in any form.”

I like "Who dares, wins" too.

But Dylan is the king of "lyrics that can be life mottos", for me (I could list at least a dozen off the top of my head, but won't :p ):

"Don't follow leaders, watch the parkin' meters." (the entirity of SHB, really)

    "Stay free from petty jealousies,
    Live by no man's code,
And hold your judgment for yourself
Lest you wind up on this road"
    .

    perfection is boring

Everyone is always striving for the better paid job, the better looking girl/boyfriend that I don't think we realise what would happen if we achieved what we percieve as "perfection". Makes sense to me anyway.

    Have fun and be happy.

There is no point in doing anything if you don't enjoy it and if someone truly hates something then I always advise them to give it up. There is no point in anything if you aren't happy. I would rather be skint and happy than rich and unhappy.
