British Education System

Is it fair to say that the education system in Britain has actually got wore, or is it old people doing their usual trick of saying everything was so much better in their own day?

I think its meaningless to use statistics in this argument either way, for the simple fact the slower pupils in a school were not entered for exams. They left at 14 with no qualifications.

But has the state of the system actually got worse? Im not claiming for one second that the exam results show that children are getting more intelligent, but are the exams getting easier? I truly doubt it, I believe that the teachers are merely getting better at teaching kids how to pass exams. Because exams never have, and never will, meausre intelligence, merely skill at writing the 'correct' answer.

Its amazing that every time someone does a test to see if parents are more intelligent, it turns out that they arent, or at the very best equal. Its rose tints on the glasses that make people feel the schools are getting worse, like in the same way all summers in the past were hot and sunny and the trains always ran on time.
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

That's a private school trick, they don't enter pupils who they think won't pass so they look better in the league tables. At my school (a comp.) everyone was entered for everything (with a few exceptions). Some private schools claim to have a 95% pass rate or whatever, but it's only because the people they know won't get good grades don't get entered. Bastards.

The exams are getting easier. Compare a paper from 92 with that of 02 and you'll see the older one much harder, and that's just in the space of a decade. But you're right, the exams don't measure intelligence, it measures your exam technique and how fast you can write.

The whole system should be scrapped. We need a better way of measuring intelligence and schools need to be stricter.

The whole system should be scrapped? roflol. What do you suggest then?

School is a necessary evil, and although exams are not a perfect way to measure a child's intelligence, they do have some use.

I think we've analysed the education system fairly recently, I if I remember correctly there was no agreed solution. It's a case of put up or shut up.

    HI

I think that the schools in the england are ok if you are not disability , slow worker , follower for other people but if you are than you much will not enjoy school or never think for passing exam.

I think that childern in school shold be to do subject which they enjoy doing for there GCSE and all childern should do math , english and science.
