Why does this keep on happening?

On & off since I was born, I've had an allergy to milk. So anyway, I found out I had it (again) just before I was 14. I was fine about 7 months later. I then found out this year that I had the same problem, only difference being then was that I was unable to have chocolate. Now, I think I'm ok again.
Anyone know why sometimes I'm fine for years then it starts again but then I'm fine after 7 months?

I'm not really sure why you get it on and off, might be something to do with your immune system and your body's ability to cope with the allergies. Do you carry on eating milk and chocolate? I wouldn't trust the allergy testing where they prick you and tell you what you're allergic to though. I've had that done and know others who have and they come up with a huge list of things I'm obviously not allergic to like broccoli and oranges?!
Sometimes, but it leaves me in pain.
Never had that done. I just know when I'm allergic to milk because it gives me bad stomach cramps whenever I have anything with milk in it...
I was allergic as a baby, it cleared up from like 7-14 and now 14-17+ i have it. It's gotten alot worse, my throat starts closing if i have milk.
I visted the "allergist" the other day. While i find his "science" completeee bullshit.. heres what he said:
Milk allergies are very rare past 14. like 1% of the population. Many people have "milk intolerances" (don't ask me what the difference is, i have no idea.) Now common allergies are to pets, dust, molds, dustmites. If you are allergic to one or any of these, they increase the effects of the "milk intolerance".
That's interesting because the allergist said i had an intolerance, not an allergy, yet my throat closes if i consume dairy.
Now im confused.
Your idea does make sense though.
That's also my problem as well I think.
And what the allergist person said does seem like rubbish...
the way it was explained to me by the digestive specialist guy:
allergy: your immune system reacts to the food by attacking. this can cause lots of symptoms, which range from mild to fatal. classic symptoms are swelling, itching, rashes, throwing up, wheezing and being a bit snotty.
intolerance: to do with your digestive tract rather than immune system. tends to cause gut-type symptoms (nausea, sickness, cramping, poo probs) rather than the allergy type. ever heard someone say 'ooh, bread/nuts/eggs/jelly doesn't agree with me'? yeah, this is an intolerance. it's generally less severe and is easily stopped by avoiding the food that causes it.
