Resigning without a new job to go to

Has anyone ever resigned from their full-time job without another one to go to?
I really want to leave my job now - I won't bother going into it all - and I'm considering resigning soon. I'm going to phone a lot of local recruitment agencies later today, but I understand a lot of them have immediate vacancies whereas I still have to work a month's notice.
Maybe if I sound out what kinda thing is available, then hand my notice in and hope I find something within that month. Obviously I don't want to be out of work and I haven't got any savings to fall back on, but my parents have said they'll support me as long as I'm only out of work for 2-3 weeks max once I've worked my notice.
What do you think? :yeees:

No it doesn't. You'll be able to get a shitty job in a wherehouse piece of piss through an agency.
Ok then. Walking in to another decent job straight away depends on your marketable skills...
Sigh.
Just for the record, it's admin / clerical jobs I'm looking for and I have all the usual skills, experience and qualifications that most job adverts ask for.
