Its christmas day today, i got my parents £50 in bandq vouchers and a dyson vacuum. I gave them the vouchers first and my mum said i was silly for giving them that much money in vouchers. I then gave them the hoover and she was saying i was really stupid, she didnt appreciate it and said for me to not to open it as she is going to take it back.
Why do i even bother doing nice things for people, im the one who ends up crying afterwards, happened last year too, bought loads of people nice gifts and all i got back was one person asking me why i bought them such a rubbish gift. No one else even said a thank you or anything.
Maybe i should just not do christmas anymore, cos what ever nice things i do just blow up in my face and im the one who ends up crying on Christmas day.

It's crap when people want to change what you've bought them. My stepmother has done it to me several times over the years; this year I asked for nothing and gave nothing, apart from cards.
I can't see the point in all this festive nonsense. It's too commercial, people don't want what you buy them, and either don't use it or want to change it. Forget it .
Stop crying . Get on eBay and find a bargain for yourself with the money you've saved by your parents not wanting their lovely and thoughtful gift .
Find some port or sherry
I dont have any friends either
If that is the case, ignore them and don't bother with them in future if they are gonna be that rude.
What did they get you for Christmas anyway?
Don't get yourself down! It's not your fault in any way - It's society. And you aren't that bad...
Christmas now, is too commercial. It focuses on the gift, the greed, etc. It's nice giving/getting stuff, but its also shite, this sorta thing happens, see?
In Slovakia, Slovenia, Prauge, I have seen what Christmas REALLY is about. It opens your eyes - its a time to go out with freinds and family, be social, get together and have fun. It's so much nicer over there, they have big Christmass markets selling food and drink, people all go there with freinds, and have a few drinks, something to eat, and socialise. It's a big once a year social occasion and celebration. And it is wonderful.
Wish we had a culture like that. Instead, we have this.
Go down the pub, I can guarantee you won't be the only one down there having a drink.
Just wanted to say *hugs*, and lots of them
Hope you're beginning to feel a little bit better - everyone's offered some really good advice, I hope it's useful.
CB
bring it back, keep the cash
we should do a thesite.org xmas party
Top idea really. All have an internet Christmas pissup!
So you don't need the cash? Give it to a charity, like the one where you buy some people a heard of Goats, and you can know they'll appreciate alot more. You could feel good about doing something worthwhile then!
Or spoil yourself! Or give it to some homeless guy, and see his face light up! Although, try to make sure he doesn't buy 12 bottles of Cider.
and then show them what you have done as well
XXOO
I hope i am too.
Im not giving money to charity, working with charities i see how much is wasted, goes towards drinks for their functions, how inept many of the staff are and how many dont care. Of course im really only talking about the paid staff, the ones who volunteer do care, or they wouldnt do it for free.
I'll just keep the money, put it in the bank so i can spend it on a house in a few years time. Thanks everyone for your replies.
