The solstice is a pagan thing? I thought it was simple astronomy.

It is but Pagans worshipped it because it signified the beginning of the light season.

Not sure myself but the idea behind it all is the same. You know, Jesus being the saviour, the light and all that crap!

Hm, I had never thought of it this way. I knew 25th Dec is a date that was simply chosen, but I didn't think there was any particular reason. I guess it kind of makes sense.

There's a load of inaccuracies about the whole event like stars and all that that makes it pretty much impossible for him to be born at Christmas, it's estimated he was born around April time, that's if the man ever existed!

The historical person did exist, that much I think has been proven. And I do know that it wasn't december, as I said above.

They must've all been on acid if they believed some man could turn water into wine, or were they all drunks?

For all I know he could. I don't discound the possibility of people with supernatural abilities, especially if this one was actually God.

Why would he put his representation on earth. I thought religion is all about mystery and faith, if it was this long haired dude wouldn't have been here in the first place. Send another one down if you're so good almighty dude in the sky!

That's actually a good question, "Why doesn't another come" I mean. But I'm not in the mood for philosophy on that right now, sorry.

Personally I think it was changed to try and integrate the Pagans in to Christianity. Obviously calenders were different then and they wouldn't have been able to predict the exact solstice (I don't think)...

Especially as carvings of the 'green man' have been found in really old churches.

Green man is the spirit of the woods. He's usually depicted as a face made of oak leaves.
