unusual names

Today I went for an interview with a new deal adviser. "She walked over and said "well I'm not even going to try to pronounce your name." :banghead: like, wtf? I of course promptly gave her the chin as she turned around. But, how rude and illiterate is that? If she's tried to pronounce the, oooh shock horror, three sylables, phonetically- she's actually have said it right! Wonder what she does when she's reading and comes across a word she's never seen before?

Does anyone else have an unusual first name?

Where I work, over half the people have long complicated Polish or Indian/Middle Eastern names. All of the confusing ones have short easy nick names they go by. They really don't even expect me to try and say their name :p

Not technically, but the Irish side of my family call me by a different name to my "real" name (same as my Mam's, Nana's etc).

When I went to Uni I decided I was going to go by that; I changed my mind when one of my lecturers insisted on calling me "Bread"

Hmm, not that unusual, but I got a christmas card from a guy at work I have known for about 18 months, who I have always known as 'Morris'... turns out it's spelt 'Maurice'... oops..

90% of the people in the company i work for are Russain. all the their first names are easy, Andrey, alexi, olga, Ivan, Denis, etc.... the surnames you can figure out if you try and read it.

Guess some peopl are just rude. Hope you get the job just to tell her to stick it for being rude.

I wonder how English-speaking people think "Yorghos" is pronounced... I wrote it that way to make it simpler, but some people still get confused.

Pretty close. The 's' at the end is supposed to be pronounced though.
And the "gh" isn't exactly "g", but I suppose it's difficult for you to make that sound alone, as it doesn't correspond to a latin letter.

I think personally that posting his address was a bit unnesscesary and a bit dubious whether it is legal to do so.
