What's the strangest Surname you've ever heard of?

I reckon the Minister for Transport has the strangest name

Mr Lady-Man

I was watching a tv show last night - which was acutally very good and called Not Forgotten but one of the main ladies featured in it was called Elsie Knocker - which just had me and my mother in law in fits of hysterics.

She was very brave though and did lots of amazing nursing on the front line in world war one and really shouldn't be laughed at.

Mr Weiner (although they said 'Winer') and Mr Badger are the funniest names I've ever come across. Checking them in with a straight face when I worked at the airport was well hard.

There's a family of Cockerill's that live down the round which is a bit of a random farmyard name ;p

There was a guy I met once back home called Richard Brie. Needless to say, he had a cracking nickname...

I also know people with surnames such as Puddifoot and Tinker.

my family surname is woollacott. i doubt that any of you would've spelt that with the correct number of o's, l's and t's if i'd asked you!

oh and my mum and step-dad clearly have the best surname. it's rocks. if it was my surname i'd so be emphasising the 'rocks' so it'd be like 'lucy ROCKS!' :p

a friend of mine has the surname bibizadeh

    very silly indeed
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Mine's pretty silly for the main reason that it's about 101% Irish.

Having said that, I'd prefer to have a less-common surname than a common one. Mrs T, whose surname is Davies, can't wait to adopt my name!
