I'm 16 and would like a Saturday / Sunday job.

Could people here recommend anything, and tell me what rate of pay to expect?

Thanks
David

Im 16 and get paid 4.00 an hour but thats a full time job and I lied about my age, when I worked for a JJB I got £2.60 an hour but Id go for something with abit more if was you. Try some of the shops in your local town, make yourself a CV if you can, when you go dress smart and if they dont need people to work where you go, leave a copy of your CV with them.

And don't get disheartened if you get rejected! Keep applying for jobs! You will get one eventually!

Have you been looking recently ? Until about a couple of weeks ago there were LOADS of jobs being advertised, they needed people for Christmas. I'm 16 and I get £3 an hour working at a restaurant in a department store. Don't expect good pay LoL Some people get £4 or whatever but some of my mates are the same age as me and are on £2.50 and £2.40 an hour. You'll probably find theres a lot of jobs in shops and cafes, restaurants etc. Good luck with finding one !!

    Smile :)

    I've currently got a temporary @ M&S.
I'd recommend working there because they treat you great and you have training so you're more confident on the till.
The pay is £3.70 per hour, I work about 10 hrs a week, perfect for a student!

try dixons, I work for them. The pay is terrible, for people my age it is £2.85.
But if you apply for a sales position you get commision and other bonuses on top, but wait until AFTER christmas.

im on £4.00ph. I dont recommend supermarkets, the pay is normally low (esp morrisons). Woolies pay around £3.20ph which isnt bad 4 under 18. Contrary to popular belief, McDs pay aint bad, around the same, but it aint that easy work. Usually though, larger shops tend to pay more than the smallers shops do. Tell us how u get on

Yeah allot of my friends work in Morrisons and they are on £2.50 or something and they are 17. When they are 18 they get a rise to £3.60 ish. I'm on £3.29 now and I get a pay rise to £4.20 when I'm 18. They pay at Tesco's is supposed to be pretty good!

Well a couple of my friends there (both 17) get £2.35ph. Now, that is poor considering David_5000 asked for a saturday job. He wont earn many pennies working there! I had a mate @ tescos and he werent doing too bad (i cant remember what money was on) but he had to work dodgy hours for a student ie. friday and saturday nights.

Not as bad as McDonalds and the showcase cinemas cause there you are on a rota and therefore you can't make any plans cause you don't know when you have to work

Hi Jade, the only job you can do at 13 is probably a paper round.

Hi everyone - I've removed the posts with Jade's email in as most of you know posting your email address on a discussion board leaves you open to constant spam. Therefore if you would like to get in contact with Jade we'd advise you to use the PM facility.

    Cheers

This thread is about 5 years old. Try starting a new one if you are looking for help, or you will end up getting flamed for dragging up old threads :)
