There is clear intent there, I hope they get long sentances.
That's not the problem, sticking it in someone's head is the real issue
Here's hoping for some quality time inside for these scumbags...

I'm surprised he wasn't sentenced straight away to 20 years, tbh.
I've come across murder with that judge, got a very nice stretch inside. Expect the same again.
A kid that took an icepick to a young mans head because he was a different race to his girlfriend. He gets no sad face from me. I hope he gets arse raped daily till the day he dies, rotting in one of HM's finest prisons.
People like that, along with paedophiles get me thinking about capital punishment.
please tell me you are joking?
a fine example of humanity at its best.
people like that restore my faith in humanity ...slippy boy.
Racism is bad. Murder is bad. Racist murder is bad. Not much to debate, 'cept maybe the length of imprisonment, which we should all hope is long by any standard.
There is a clear difference, hopefully a long sentance will send out a clear message that society finds their crime aborant and it will show justice being done.
However, killing them would show us as a society to be no better than them because we would resort to murder for people we hated.
And, I have to disagree with people who suggested they hoped he gets raped or whatever, prison is grim enough, and torture is never justifiable.
Edited to add link to Sky news with sentence details

Does anyone else not find this rediculous? They took someones life, surely their sentences should reflect this. Do you think anyone who could be act so callously with such hatred and evil could ever be rehabilitated?
We should at least try. And they wont get out after 17 years anyway, thats the absolute minimum.
And of course that is the entire length of his life again, which is a long time.
Nope.
They didn't get 17 years, they got life. To serve a minimum of 17 years- they will only get out then if the parole Board believe they are not a danger to the public. They could never get out.
And even if they do get out, they are on license, which means if they commit any further offences, they can be sent straight back to prison.
A minimum of 23 years is a very very long time. Most people don't get out after the minimum period, but they cannot even be considered for parole until then.
To put in perspective, Barton cannot be eligible for parole until March 2023, and the other not until March 2029.
Yes everyone is capable of redemption imo.
I suppose so. They don't have to be granted it.
They both seem deeply unpleasant, but the time until their parole is plenty of time to change.
If they don't change, or satisty the parole board that they're safe, they'll probably stay in for longer, I think.
Do you think everyone should be given the opportunity of redemption/forgiveness?
I'm not so sure.
Yes, if they can prove of course they are which is where the problems start.
Yes, I share those sentiments.
They thanked the killers for admitting their crime, thereby avoiding a long drawn out trial which could only add to the misery of the poor family.
It was a truly awful crime, but the prison service is there for rehabilitation and I know that in the majority of cases it doesn't work but it should at least be given a chance instead of going all 'George W' on the bastards.
Do you not believe that some crimes are beyond forgiveness?
Well maybe some, like Ian Huntley for one, but I still think he's capable of some sort of forgiveness.
In these guys' case: were they brought up to hate black people by parents?
In child abusers cases: were they abused themselves as children?
Neither of these can excuse such activity but I doubt someone deserves to be killed because e.g. their parents were a pack of cunts.
I'm sure alot of crimes don't always have these issues and there is no factor which has led to the crime, so perhaps there is some argument for capital punishment. It's just too difficult to determine these things.
Nothing is ever black or white.
