Yes, but that's only one example. And whilst the top private schools will pay in excess of the state sector to attract the best candidates, many public schools won't pay that much more than the state sector

The idea that the public sector works for low wages is crap. I'm in the public sector and get paid better than my twin sister, with longer holidays than she does in the private

i know in many cases the public pays more than private sector for their average worker however that isn't why i dont like the idea of private schools - it's their ethos which is based around how much you can afford

If I were to become a teacher I would rather work in a private school. I am sure the children would be better behaved and I would certainly be happy with higher pay. if I have children one day I would want to send them to a private school if I could afford it. I want what's best for me (and my future children) without regard to any social inequality.

I agree, when i have children, scrap that IF i have children lol (seriously dont have the patience at the mo) and i could afford it, i would send them to a private school, I have a cousin in a private school and yeah he is a little nerd (wears the cutiest uniform and a little hat) but the standard of education is so much better! One of my friends had to take her kid out of public school recently as he was getting serverly bullied! My friend has spoke to the teachers and the parents but still he was getting beaten up...this happens so much in public schools and i certainly wouldn't want to teach in one..... my point is, to me, private schools hold more values and respect, the classes tend to be smaller and the children more behaved.

    Let the attack begin.............lol

In English public schools are private... Do you mean he was getting bullied in a state school rather than a public school?

Yes i am sure it does, however because you are paying for a service (really) you would expect the best standards and it would be more likely to be resolved, like i said she spoke with the parents who didnt give a shit, and the teachers werent much help either!
I am speaking from the view of a girl who is from a working class family and who went to a public school, which I hated, when I have children, I want the best for them and there is nothing wrong with that :p

Trust me, it fucking does. I've been to private school all my life (public school) and I was bullied right up until I was 18. Possibly because there's more competition but I don't really know why. I guess it's the same anywhere.

No, I'm all for equality of opportunity.

Choice is an illusion, determined by how much money daddy has in his Swiss bank account. Choice and equality are mutually exclusive.
