On BBC news ticker...

It'd be sad loss. Tragically one that could have been avoided as well...

He's got a serious infection and he's on immunosuppressants following his transplant. The odds aren't on his side unfortunately.

Just goes to show how difficult alcoholism is to beat, even after being given a second chance.

Delayed maybe, but avoided? That would mean he would have to be immortal.

Of course, to United fans, he is. ;)

What a fucking waste of one of the finest talents the world of football has ever known.

One of the top three players of all time yet let him be an example to future players of the dangers of fame and monet.

I have to agree with this, he will be a loss not just to us Man U fans but to football, as he was one of the greatest.

As for setting an example for the future players, he's done this, but I think there is more support these days for footballers in the terms of drinking! most clubs have stamped it out now! where as in best's days they thought it normal for players to get wasted after games!
