ok, so i want to install both 98se and XP on a machine. i've found this guide. it says there may be a problem booting in xp once 98 is installed. now will i still be able to boot in 98 for the time being? as i do not have the xp disk to hand.

Can I just ask, why do you want to use 98se when you have XP?

Generally you should install the oldest OS first.

Because a ton of stuff doesn't run under XP, because Compatibility Wizard is shite.

Itstall 98 first, on mnie it detected it when installing XP.

so it would be better to remove xp, then install 98, then xp as well. im guessing because 98 doesn't recognise xp but xp will recognise 98. or summat like that.

I XP is already on, and you DONT want a fresh install, you should get away with it. Although 98 may chose to delete XP anyway. ;P

Yeah, XP detects 98, but not t'other way.

Hmm, Unless you're playing vintage computer games I'm not sure how something woulden't run in XP that runs on 98... except perhaps old fashioned parallel twain scanners.

    hmm o_O

goodluck though, Maybe try a boot manager like EMRBRL to manage the different operating systems on the machine.

If you install 98 first and XP afterwards you don't need a boot manager, XP's is supposed to work fine.

Maybe reinstalling it would work (with no format)? Not sure

Download XOSL for a decent boot manager, once the OSes are set up.

    I actually prefer 98 anyway. I dual-boot 98 and 2000.

I think there must be a way to alter the boot.ini file to include 98, but I don't know how exactly... It's possible to make the windows bootloader load linux, so this must be possible too.
